A rare basketball post for me, but this game got my attention.

As a Temple alum it hurts me to admit that the Owls just aren't very good this year. This will be an intense city rivalry type of game and the Owls as always will play hard but will come up short today. The Hawks have the best guard tandem in the nation with Nelson and West and can penetrate and are deadly from 3 point range. This is bad news for the Temple zone. Hawk's coach Martelli is very familiar with Coach Chaney's zone and has the tools to exploit it in this game. The Owls are one of the worst shooting teams I have seen. In my opinion this all adds up to St Joe's easily covering what at first glance seems like a lot of points to be giving at the Licouras center.

I agree. Throw the rivalry out. I saw Temple in person the other nite and the Bonnies hung with them until the 10 minute mark. Other than Hawkins, it's a very mediocre team. The Hawks are putting a whooping on everyone and Temple doesn't have the horses to keep up. It may be close for a while, but I doubt it. The Hawks have been scoring close to 30 points in the first 10 minurtes of their last 4 games. They are hot and today, the cream will rise to teh top. If this was for Chaney's 700th, I'd possibly consider Temple, but now that the milestone is behind them, they'll return to form. SJU sends a message today. BIG
