Teasers are for squares, right?

This weekend (including monday) 27 out of 32 teams covered 7pt teasers. As good as the lines are this year, you should be cashing in on teasers. Just thought I would let some of you know that teasers are not square bets.

Absolutely not just for squares. Some of the wisest men in the world bet teasers.

Seven- Your math is very misleading. The worst you could be using your math is 16 out of 32. Half the teams always cover the spread in a teaser. Some of the wisest men in the world may bet teasers but most winning gamblers do not.

Raiders - the sharpest crew in the world has made a fortune betting NFL teasers, I know this as a fact. I'm not saying betting teasers makes a square into a sharp, if you have no clue you still have no clue. Doesn't matter what you bet. But if you are sharp there is value in teasers if you apply yourself. More so I was agreeing with Seven that the "only squares bet teasers" line is not correct.

Irish- I did hear of a group that wins with teasers but I thought that they were very selective in the games that they play although I could be wrong. They just seem like sucker plays to me and I know because I use to play an awful lot of them.

Raiders you are WAY off here. My NFL betting is almost ALL teasers over the last couple of years using Wong's capturing the 3 & 7 rule on a two team NFL game in off shore books(better odds). There is a BIG reason Vegas frowns on 2 team NFL teasers and gives crappy payouts.

Once again for the most part you MUST use key numbers and be somewhat selective and just watch your money grow. I estimate my effective win rate at about 57-58% with an equal amount of cash on each Teaser at EVEN money.

In fact, someone keep me honest, if you had bet Wong's capturing the 3 & 7 scenario blindly for the last 10 years you would be a very rich man. (You may be already - my apologies;-)

Side betting is great, but it does take a helluva lot more work and with 1 little one and another one on the way I don't have that kind of time.

My the NFL will change drastically in the future and wreck this free money but until it does I don't see Phil +1.5 at Carolina or KC -7 at SD. I see Phil +7.5 and KC -1. Once again if you are losing money at Teasers and betting all and any thing. It can BECOME a sucker bet.

I am of course paraphrasing the 3 & 7 key number but it is well worth a total look if you get a chance.

T-Dogg: It's very interesting. I'll look into it further. What is Wong's system for teasers? I'll go over all the games for 2002 and 2003 and give you the results later.

Raiders,

Short version of 6 point tease is

NFL Home favs 0f -7.5 to -8.5 covered 79.8 percent 1990-2000

NFL visiting favs of -7.5 to -8.5 covered 76.2 percent 1990-2000

NFL home dogs of +1.5 to 2.5 covered 82.2 percent 1990-2000

NFL visiting dogs of +1.5 to +2.5 covered 73.5 percent 1990-2000

Math wise 2 teams that covered 76% of the time alone would cover together 57.9 of the time (which is needed to win the teaser) Break even point on that wager is getting -137 for a 2 teamer or +127 for a 3 teamer. Offshore you can get +100 on a 2 teamer and as high as +185 on a 3 teamer.

1990-2000 evidence shows that 6.5 & 7 point teaser are also profitable. Ex. Tenn -9.5 teased to -2.5.

Couple that with you CAN be selective and some offshore books will allow you to leave open slots and close the bet a little later, giving you more game options and you WILL be successful.

I prefer the teasing of only 2 teams and I am consistent with the wager (basically incorporating flat betting into it)

Word of caution 3 & 7 is not as key in college and the principals can not be blindly followed nor do I have college data to test. Perhaps someone else has the data.

I have also read many have tested the NBA teasers and have not found any successful long term wagers.

Big Lou says the NFL playoffs is the best bet there is. Bullshit I say. :) Its NFL Teasers done correctly.

. I have hit at least 8 5-team teaser parlays in the NFL so far this year and have hit my hedge in at least five of them.

I posted just one of my teaser parlays about two weeks ago and hit the middle with my hedge. Won my two last week with my hedge on Skins +12 and Phins at Pick. It was really hard not to hit teasers last week as practically all of the games were close.

Haven't done any research yet this week but will post a 5-team TP in this thread if anyone is interested to monitor.

TDogg- Good info. I put teasers aside for the most part except during the NFL playoffs.

i use them selectively, playing at different start times, hit the first and get a free shot at a big middle on the 2nd, or hedge a peice of it.. the key is getting the first..

Sandman, have never seen or heard of anyone doing it and do not think it is possible. Have been wrong before though.
