I'd love to be a fly on the wall at these Committee meetings just to see how the group dynamics are. Who are the power players in discussions and who are basically the followers? What are the maneuverings and agendas if any?

If KState beats Baylor this weekend and FSU wins then obviously a moot point. If Baylor wins over KState I'd love to hear their detailed reasoning for TCU over Baylor. It would have to be nothing more than their "eye test" IMO because there would be little to no difference in their resumes and Baylor won head to head.

As an aside, the Big12 is becoming more and more a joke with this latest conference champion BS. Its hard to believe how Texas was allowed to destroy a once great conference and what it has become.

Other than Win One, you guys just do not get it, do you? Florida State will remain #4 if they defeat Ga. Tech OR Wisconsin defeats Ohio State. They go up to #3 ONLY if Alabama plays a totally crap game against Mizzou but manages to win, and Oregon leap frogs them to #1. The idea is to get Florida State to play Alabama in the Sugar Bwl and Oregon to play Ohio State or TCU in the Rose Bowl. Baylor is out. This is what happens when big mouth head coaches try to tell the committee how to pick the teams that will play in the playoffs. Briles refuses to schedule Power 5 Conference teams for non-con games. Unless he goes undefeated, this is what he can expect. The committee will do everything they can to insure that Baylor does not get to the playoffs, and that includes selecting a one loss Florida State team over them. Remember, the committee does not read your comments and could care less what you guys think. You still are going to watch the games, no matter who they match up.

"I don't think you guys get it. Here's the scoop. No one trying to screw over FSU. It's actually a help to them. It they are #2 or #3, they have to go to Pasadena, CA for the Rose Bowl. By moving then down to #4, they get to go to New Orleans. More fans can attend as compared to having to fly 5+ hours to west coast. Same thing happens in the NCAA selection committee in Basketball where the committee will try put higher seeded teams closer to home (reward) but sometimes it means moving them down a level in the bracket."

Make sense, thought so.

It makes sense, I agree. It also means the Committee has taken upon itself to adopt an Agenda other than its stated criteria. No place have I seen proximity to fans a stated goal in the seeding process by the Committee. If we follow that logic, it could also be interpreted as showing favor to FSU in giving them a close to home game that can be attended by more of their fans. I thought their stated goal was to rank in order the top four teams. If its one of their criteria, they should publicly state it as one.

interesting to peek at computer ratings...

congrove = FSU, OSU, ORE, BAMA, BAY, TCU
colley = FSU, BAMA, OSU, ORE, TCU, ARI
massey = BAMA, ORE, TCU, OSU, FSU, MIS
sagarin = BAMA, MIS, TCU, MISST, ORE, UGA
FO F+ = BAMA, ORE, OSU, TCU, MIS, MISST
wolfe = FSU, BAMA, ORE, TCU, OSU, MISST
anderson = FSU, ORE, BAMA, OSU, TCU, ARI
billingsley = FSU, BAMA, ORE, OSU, TCU, MISST

just a single top 6 for Baylor despite the h2h win over tcu.

It makes sense if everything goes like it's supposed to in YOUR head. I personally hope Baylor doesn't get in. I hate their fans who defend their schedule and..and..and..I pretty much hate everything about them. My observation, which is about as popular as the $2 bill is if Bama loses to Mizzou (a 4 finger shocker) and they only fall to 4. Oregon goes to 1. If Wisky wins and GT wins (very possible) FSU and OSU are out. Baylor goes to 3, TCU to 2. So you have Oregon vs Bama and TCU vs Baylor in a rematch. Now THAT would be a playoff. Santa, is that asking too much?

probably would change if Baylor beats KState though....

I do like that the committee talking head said they watch the games or the tapes...they look at these teams and judge based on that. F$U has not performed well in their opinion and barely beaten some very mediocre teams and most of those games at home. It's just the "eye test" for them that says they are the 4th best team and that TCU is ahead of Baylor.

I dont think anything changes if the top 4 win. No amount of thumping by OSU or Baylor moves them to the #4 spot.

We can play all the if (A loses and B wins and C loses) cards all day long but there are too many scenarios to be played out. TCU looks like they have clinched a spot and Bama should be close behind them barring something crazy happening. I'm not sure how many more horseshoes can fall out of F$U's ass but they seem destined for a final 4 spot.....

btw if BCS calculations were being used for final 4 (which i fully believe would be better than a committee) the rankings would be

1) Bama .964
2) Fla St .960
3) Oregon .929
4) TCU .861
5) Ohio St .814
6) Baylor .796

I wonder, if TCU had held on to defeat Baylor (say by 10 points) would they be #1 right now?

I think they are trying to take care the fans (who might have to travel 2x) as well as take care of the hosting site. The BB selection committee does it all the time

You might very well be right and it does make some sense other than they were never tasked with this. My understanding is they were tasked only with ranking the top four teams. Bowl A gets seeds 1vs4 and Bowl B gets 2vs3. For sake of argument it could put a team that would have been seeded 3 instead of 4, except for geographical reasons, at a competitive disadvantage in reaching the championship game if they have to play the #1 ranked team plus give an advantage to the #2 ranked team.

Given we are talking 4 teams vs the 60+ involved in the basketball tournament I don't think it is a fair comparison but who knows. It will be interesting to see if either site has any trouble getting a sellout for their game. Chances are TCU and Oregon fans will have to fly to LA if they want to attend.

I don't really have a dog in this fight as I'm not a fan of any of the teams that will be in the top 4. I do think, however, the Committee will be very much criticized if their agenda is anything other than ranking the top 4 teams, to include whether they intend to schedule FBS schools in the future that are outside the power 5 conferences. What, if anything, does that have to do with this years results?

I honestly think the Committee thinks FlaSt is the #4 team with no consideration given to travel. I certainly hope so.

He also might get sacked by the FSU Student committee. There supposed to have a decision back in 10 days to 2 weeks. What if they take him off the field so that he can't play in the playoffs anyway?

On a neutral field, TCU -2.5. Think of what Ol Miss did to Miss St and then multiply it by 10. Ol Miss scored on them with no weapons to speak of, TCU has everybody healthy. A 1 legged Bo Wallace is nowhere near the passer or runner as QB Trevone Boykin. Add to that all the backs and wr's at TCU. C'mon man, really?

I just think that no way... no how... they just don't belong in the top four.

They (FSU Student committee) are not going to do crap to Winston. Are you kidding? This thing has been put off so long... the fix is in.

But Winnie should suffer great hardship when draft day rolls around. And.... Coach Fisher should get run out of the entire NCAA for letting this horse-shit go on in the program. Also.... No grown adult should ever answer to the name "Jimbo"!
