rental rates in lv have gone way up
makes no sense but that is the new way
I used too always rent a car, it was almost always easy to get one for $10/day, quick and easy shuttle to gillespie st which is right on the way to the strip, where you could just hop in your car and go.

now with the new rental car facility
rates are way up
pay $3 /day just for rental car facility tax
shuttle to faciltity takes about 20 minutes, add waiting in line
big improvement [not] maybe for local gov and rental car companies

Anyone use the shuttle to downtown? Is there direct bus service to downtown?

I've taken the shuttle from the airport to Downtown hotels before. It's a lot cheaper -- about 12 bucks -- but it takes a pretty long time. Everytime I arrive in Vegas I'm anxious to get checked in and down to a table, so I spring for a cab and save the time.

I figure $30 vs. $12 isn't much in the Vegas scope.

The new rental facility is great. The shuttle buses run continuously and load quickly.
It's takes about 6-7 minute bus ride to get to the facility.
Once I'm there it takes me about 2 mins to use the self-service kiosk and be on my way to my car.

Alamo has economy cars for $21/day + tax for that weekend that's w/out applying any discounts.

Taxi fare would likely run about $30 at most, with that price including a pretty good tip.

Check with Rx poster DOUG as to his arrival time. He'd likely be down with splitting a $30 cab fare between eight guys.

Also check with Rx poster PO69. He might be willing to sell you some space in the back of his rig.

But you'll have to be more valuable than either a toaster oven or an apartment sized microwave oven

shuttle is $8 and could be faster than a cab, if the cab line is long at the airport
