FGCU ML +100 (Ceasars)
Sometimes the boys you back the day prior face-off, and when they do it provides ya with some inside knowledge on which dog to back in this race. And as fun as it was riding the dragons of Drexel to a win yesterday —- I’m going back to the well on Dunk City and taking Florida Gulf Coast on the ML to get it done today.
Drexel just doesn’t have the scoring to keep pace with the outside shooting and general pace that FGCU tends to play with. Moreover, the size and athleticism advantage that Amari Williams had in yesterday’s matchup vs UT Arlington won’t be there to exploit so heavily for Drexel —- and although the team has managed to make games ugly and pick up some wins this year, I still don’t think their guard play is good enough to win against better competition.
And lastly, probably most importantly too, I’ll take the better 3-point and free-throw shooting team every day of the week when it’s in odd circumstances such as early season back-to-backs. Drexel is shooting below 70% from the stripe as a unit, while FGCU’s number is nearly 79%. Tired legs only make these issues worse.
