United top of the table ... @):)

My MLS for tonight...

MLS Playoff 04.11 02:00

DC United vs RBNY
- big difference in styles here. DC are a hard working club without a star since DeRosario got injured with Canada while the Red Bulls are the ultimate prima donnas with current and former internationals at almost every position. In this case I'll always go with the lesser talent against the classic underachiever, especially at home. These teams have met 7x in playoffs with DC sporting a 5-1-1 record and there's no hotter team in MLS. DC have not dropped a match since DeRo's injury and are unbeaten in 2 months (5-2-0) and without a home loss in 8 months (12-4-0). They've dropped just 4 home points out of the last 39 available and have lost to RBNY just 2x in 12 games at RFK. RBNY great home team but horrendous away. Their win in Philly on final day of regular season was their first in nearly 6 months. They expected to be hosting the first leg but Hurricane Sandy flooded NY/NJ and they switched dates. The Red Bulls got down to DC early since most of their homes were without power so they're certainly out of routine. Not sure if that's good or bad since they're so horrible away normally but athletes typically like to be in a set routine and this week in NY/NJ was anything but normal. Fact is we have the hottest team in the league, nearly unbeatable at RFK, against a club that can't win away. Yes there is an enormous difference in team salaries but that's never helped NY win a title in the past and their "name" is the only reason line isn't a solid -0.25. Decent bet for me

DC United pk 5u -110

Chelsea is sure to drop further as the Refs wage war against the EPL Cry Babies.

I love this stuff. Nice to see the Red Devils on top again. I'm a huge fan of Sir Alex.

what no thanks to arsenal????? can someone explain to me why their is a playoff in the MLS??????? I realize it is the North American way but is just seems like a dumb idea in soccer. And TFC should have to be relegated to the NASL due to a franchise long terrible streak.

but gl on playoff soccer bets with no relegation/promotion...

that was arsenal? thought it was leyton orient :)

actually almost all leagues in concacaf and upper so america have playoffs (MLS, NASL, USL, Canada, Guate, Venez, Costa Rica, Colombia, Panama, El Sal, Mexico, etc). It's a zonal thing not just a north american thing

i know brazil, argy, uru have just 1 champ on table but that might be it in all of the Americas

only disagree on TFC because they actually spend money but yeah they were gawd awful in 2012

betting soccer one key thing to know.... do not bet a road team unless you know they will win the match.

unlucky roll. Right side, wrong result on the DC play. Missed PK, horrible own goal blunder by Hamid, Najar lost the plot and got sent off and I still had the feeling DC could pull out the victory in the end. Moving on...Couple good MLS playoff games on the schedule for Sunday.

wasn't clear on my post above as I had the DNB on DC too so it wasn't a loss, just felt like one. I typically stay away from any over betting in MLS playoffs but the Over 2.5 in the LA/SJ game is tempting given the recent history between the two.

just wanted to add to this that soccer has the highest home field winning percentage out of any sport. not saying that road teams can't and don't win. They do. But, this isn't like any other sport. Their is no handicapping really involved in soccer. How do you handicap a soccer game? You can't. Maybe you could argue Man United's Van Persie had an incentive to score against his old team? I guess that is handicapping?

you think that's bad, try reporting on TFC. Spending every home game interviewing players and coaches asking the same questions and getting the same answers after yet another loss

mob - i don't know how long you have been betting soccer and maybe your book doesn't offer AH's but this bet home teams logic is a dangerous game...usually juiced to death or simply don't win. EPL only 43% home teams are winning - so +0.5 road sides are hitting just fine. Only 24% road teams actually win but if you get a +1 +0.5 etc....you would still win. And draw no betting road sides can be very profitable if you can follow the rules to betting soccer. Take away the obvious home matches were chelski, manchesters, arsenal??, and road teams cover all the time.

There is nothing wrong with having a betting strategy esp if it works but betting road teams with smart handicaps is definitely the way to go in most leagues....but to say you can't handicap soccer is bizarre....

round - at least you get to interview a different manager every year....although i think this guy might stick around for a bit.

roll - leyton seems a bit below the belt....at least pick a championship side team...

I am enjoying the handicapping on this forum. I've always liked World Cup soccer, but last year I decided to adopt a Premier League team. The previous year, I did watch a match between Man U and Chelsea. I decided then I liked Chelsea better. So, they got the nod last year, and they are my team! I must say, however, since I have Gol TV since switching to Uverse, I like the German games. Thanks for making this more fun!

LOL.

I second this. LOL. You kill me. MLSE is the real problem with TFC. Look at all the teams they own and you can see the same result.

No worries mate.

The Toon hung on.

I'm still pissed with Peter Bankes the assistant ref that called the offside on Nolan that wasn't an offside.

He refs in the lower leagues and has made some strange calls as a referee. Suspect calls. Fixxed calles. ????

Adding insult to injury he's from Merseyside and a Red!!! YUK!!!

this is a no arsenal bashing forum......oh wait i'm not a mod. and certainly i've had my fair shots are liverpool for the last few years so fine....i can't see city sticking with man utd or even chelsea this year. You have to play like a team and they certainly do not .... but top 3 is definitely already decided.

Dial,

There is nothing wrong with the Goons. They are a good club and a successful club historically.

However, it has to be very embarrassing for the top brass and Wenger to watch what could have been (RVP) leave and continue where he left off at Man United. They had a chance to resign him early at much more $$$$$ and chose not to.

Remember this moment ***LINK***

It's transfers like this that make Arsenal the butt of all jokes in the EPL.

***Wenger*** This is the most current statement. Not very encouraging. Plus Wenger has that Mr. Bean look in his eyes and that's never a good sign.

Hang in there Dial the season is young. ***Final Link***
