this sucks!
at the risk of sounding a bit arrogant, the playoffs have been, well, rather easy just really felt good about my investments. today i don't, but to support my sickness i will be playing.
this might sound very odd, but i have broken this game down to one match-up -- ken walter vs todd sauerbrun. i think special teams, especially punting will be very important today; field position will be very important today. and this isn't even close walter is horrible; sauerbrun is one of the best. in fact, i give the kicking edge to kasay over vinateri. kasay is a better kicker -- stronger, more accurate. if the game is on the line i want vinateri, but if that's the case the panthers cover!

talent wise, these two are close to equal -- one team stronger in one area, the other in other area's but overall close to equal. but i am extremely nervous today her's why:

troy brown makes me very nervous, manning is a wonderful ahtlete, but i can see him get burnt early in the game by being OVER-zealous.

in the same light i am nervous that the panthers d-line in their over-zealousness gets caught deep, doesn't maintain their gaps and run into some problems early.

i'm nervous that if the panthers get down early, they may lose their confidence, and start questioning if they belong.

i am nervous about morgan tryiung to keep up w/ a.smith, and t.brown over the middle.

coach fox has a much more difficult job today the belichick; he not only has to prepare them for the pats, he also has to somehow calm them down for the biggest game of their lives.

but, with that said, i still feel the panthers can come inside this spread. if they can weather the early jitters and perhaps, a game breaking play by the pats early -- they can make a game of this by playing smashmouth football. doing exactly what the pats have been doing.

hopefully, we will see a lot of s. davis running inside; alot of j. wiggins over the middle; alot of s.smith on the deep post; a lot of muhameed deep-period; hopefully we here a lot of peppers, jenkins, and rucker -- we don't need sacks we need containment.

i also think today's game could provide an excellent halftime opportunity!

i believe mfg said it well

pats play to win

thats why they consistenly play close games

also it is easier to cover a 7 pt line when linesmakers predict a low scoring game.

you are 100% right- the youth and experience of car first time dealing w/ all this hype scares the shit out of me

i agree, sweating like a whore in church on this one! that's why i think halftime could present a good opportunity -- if caro is playing solid i'll let it ride; if they look as if they don't belong it could get ugly and i can jump.

Nice write up Hansen, good luck. You would be 3-1 using this strategy on the Pats in the playoffs so far. They have covered both first halfes as you know, and Tennessee covered their game with them. I could see both of your plays coming in.
Thanks for the prop Deniro.

Hansen-I think you posted your record wrong. You have 67-49, isn't it something like 67-29?

Hansen, this game reminds alot of the Bills vs Giants SB in 91 (reminds) not contrasting. I think the key to Carolina's success is clock control and turnovers. If they can control mistakes and Davis is productive they will win. I think the Panthers need to play very aggressive on defense, show alot of blitzes, bump recievers when ever they can, anything to throw off their timing cause timing is KEY to their short passing game.

I hope we are all treated to a great Supe Bowl and I truly feel it will be!

GL and thanks for all the winners this year Hansen. your a true asset to this forum.

i concur! i'm looking for the panthers to do something to the patriots that neither the colts, nor the titans did -- smash them in their mouths. and if they do this, thus, effectively disrupting their rhthym. but A LOT of people are riding the panthers

yes Hansen Bros, way better Kicker, that is why I played Carolina to kick the Farthest FG which was at Carolina +130. I dont even think Venetari attempted a FG over 50 yards this past season. Kasay hit 2 over 50 if I am not mistaken. with his 50 yarder before the half, I am considering that a win already. Venetari is struggling and Belichick wont rely on his ass to win this game. GL to you today Aloha CC.

Nice call Hansen, was very glad I was not on the other side of you.

Conservative play calling cost the Panthers the game in the long run, would have loved to see OT!

NE knew what the Panthers were gonna do and stopped it cold.

Congrats to New England fans, you guys had a DREAM SEASON, hope you realize that.

I think NE gets there again next year. I will be all over the chalk long range props on them for next year, if they stay strong and don't lose alot of people.

Hope to see you next year Hansen, or maybe you'll hang out for the Arena season?

Take care man!

Way to go Hansen! Keep priming that pump for next fall. You are one of the really good guys here. It has been a pleasure to share with you all year. Thanks again for being a humble class guy! LT
