I do not bet the 1st week of the year, to me it makes no sense. But in the true spirit of a gamble I will place a few tiny wagers and some parlays for drunken fun.
Detroit +3 - Hopefully you were fortunate enough to get this line or better weeks ago. Detroit will end their road losing streak here I believe. Chicago has a new coach (actually all new coaches, which is rare in itself) and a whole new scheme. Chicago added RB Thomas Jones in the offseason and everyone is making a big deal out of this. This guy was a 1st round pick four years ago and has done squat, zilch nada in that time. The Bears have a good O-Line and a good MLB, but after that what do they really have? Detroit on the other hand has been stock piling young talent for years now and looks ready to burst out. They picked up CB Fernando Bryant in the off season to play opposite Pro Bowler Dre Bly and picked up Pro Bowl Free Safety Brock Marion. If Detroit can shut down the run game early it will be lights out for Chicago. Detroit will still be 7-9 at best this season I believe, but I feel strongly about this game.
Baltimore -3
Atlanta -3.5
KC +3
Oakland +4
New Orleans +3
