My projected opening lines before the official opening lines are released
for the bowl schedule (there has been future game numbers out for the Orange Bowl, and I have not seen any other future game numbers for any of the other bowls, but it doesnt mean that they have not been published somewhere) . Whenever the opening lines come out (most likely today sometime) , I will come back (most likely Tuesday evening) and
evaluate my projected lines vs. the opening lines (or combined average with
first lines sunday evening) in my EarlyBirds write ups, and see if there are
any discernible discreprencies on these lines vs. the opening/first lines .
These matchups are pretty much set, barring any last second change of mind by any of the schools or bowl reps, and thank gawd for the Island boys nutting up and taking care of business last night (and I had them as a late play to save my saturday card- screw U bruins and trojans!), because the Hawaii Bowl was actually gonna bring Akron in (slight possibility of MichState to return back to Honolulu, but I think the Akron invite had signatures already pending the Warriors status)- CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT XMAS EVE DISASTER?¿? It's already wayyyy beyond saturation point in the bowl lineup when directional schools and recent minor league dwelling Troy St and UAB start popping up while "where-da-hell-is-Nebraska-PennState&Washington" just looks very surreal. Boy , that Silicon JugJob Classic better just have "those" :105084828 instead of the two teams scheduled (in fact, yours truly is hosting the half time show ) , & it might not be too far into the future when Florida Atlantic faces Azusa Pacific on a January 3rd showdown for all the marbles.
Totals plays can be of early interest, and by going off James Howell's numbers (whom I pay attention to, among others), that Libery Bowl 71 has got to be a ton higher. Could they actually open in the low 80s? The 42 for the Emerald Bowl with Lobos and Middies also looks too shallow. But oddsmen will usually tack on an extra 3 or so points on bowl totals, always anticipating the jacked up fever of the postseason, along with all teams getting needed rest and such.
These all still may not be the official matchups
