Preview: Tigers at Blue Jays

GAME: Detroit Tigers (46-42) at Toronto Blue Jays (50-40)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 1:07 PM EST
WHERE: Rogers Centre, Toronto, Ontario
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Toronto Blue Jays' season-high seven-game winning streak may be a thing of the past, but the club probably couldn't be much happier about its current situation during what was a trying first half of the season. The Blue Jays will enter the All-Star break seeking their eighth win in nine tries Sunday, when they look to take a four-game home set and the season series from the Detroit Tigers.

Toronto, which has split six games with Detroit in 2016, stumbled to a 19-23 start in part due to an inconsistent offense that ranked in the middle of the pack in runs scored with 264 through June 10, but Edwin Encarnacion and Josh Donaldson have sparked the underachieving unit to a major-league best 177 runs in the 27 games since. The result has been a 17-7 record over the following 24 contests, guaranteeing the Blue Jays (50-40) their best first half since winning the first of two consecutive World Series titles in 1992. The Tigers have already assured themselves a winning 11-game road trip (6-4 so far) after Victor Martinez belted a go-ahead solo homer in the eighth inning of Saturday's 3-2 victory to break the Blue Jays' winning streak, but they have dropped four of six since beginning their long journey with a four-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays. Martinez is only 1-for-10 this series and has opened the month slowly (7-for-34), but he is still batting .333 with 11 home runs and 31 RBIs in 48 road games this season.

TV: 1:07 p.m. ET, FSN Detroit, SportsNet (Toronto)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Tigers RH Anibal Sanchez (5-9, 6.52 ERA) vs. Blue Jays RH R.A. Dickey (6-9, 4.10)

With Detroit's rotation decimated by injury, Sanchez will draw a second straight spot start five days after getting pounded for seven runs on five hits and four walks over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to Cleveland. Since opening the season with wins in both of his first two turns (3.38 ERA), the 32-year-old Venezuelan is 3-9 with a 6.95 ERA over his last 19 appearances (11 starts). Sanchez has held Toronto scoreless in a couple of relief outings this season and picked up the victory in his last start against the Blue Jays last July.

Dickey improved to 1-6 with a 4.82 ERA in nine home starts in Tuesday's win over Kansas City, limiting the Royals to two runs on five hits and three walks while fanning eight across seven frames. The 2012 National League Cy Young Award winner fell one strikeout short of his season high and lasted at least seven innings for the second straight turn, matching the number of times he did so over his first 16 outings. Dickey is 8-3 with a 4.01 ERA in 20 career appearances (13 starts) versus the Tigers.

WALK-OFFS

1. Donaldson is one run shy of becoming only the sixth player in AL history to score 80 runs and hit 20 homers before the break (Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, Reggie Jackson, Frank Thomas and Alex Rodriguez).

2. Detroit 1B Miguel Cabrera hasn't homered in his last nine games but needs only one to tie Hall-of-Famer Mike Piazza for 47th place on the all-time list with 427.

3. Toronto's rotation has held the opposition to three earned runs or fewer in 11 consecutive outings, and two runs or fewer in eight of those contests.

Preview: Reds at Marlins

GAME: Cincinnati Reds (32-56) at Miami Marlins (46-41)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 1:10 PM EST
WHERE: Marlins Park, Miami, Florida
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Miami Marlins look to record their first series sweep in over two months on Sunday afternoon when they host the reeling Cincinnati Reds in the finale of their three-game set. The Marlins have posted back-to-back two-run victories over the Reds to give themselves a chance to bring out the brooms for the first time since sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks on May 3-5.

Veteran Martin Prado continued his hit parade with three in Saturday's 4-2 victory to increase his total to 17 in his last nine contests. Slugger Giancarlo Stanton added a run-scoring single to extend his hitting streak to six games, during which he is 9-for-23 with four homers, eight RBIs and six runs scored. While Miami's success versus Cincinnati has helped it turn the page from a disastrous 3-6 road trip, the latter has dropped 13 of 17 to have it crawling on its knees toward the All-Star break. Brandon Phillips, who is playing with a hairline fracture in his left hand, had an RBI single on Saturday and is 7-for-15 during his four-game hitting streak.

TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), FSN Florida (Miami)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds LH Cody Reed (0-3, 9.00 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Tom Koehler (6-7, 4.40)

Reed lost his third straight start on Monday after allowing eight runs (four earned) on five hits in four innings of a 10-4 rout by the Cubs. Chicago took the rookie to task in back-to-back outings, accounting for 15 runs (11 earned) on 14 hits - including five homers - in eight frames. Positives have been few and far between for Reed, who has recorded 22 strikeouts in 20 innings.

Koehler has followed a three-game winning streak by going 0-1 in his last three outings, with a leaky bullpen squandering a four-run lead en route to a no-decision versus the New York Mets on Monday. The 30-year-old was taken deep twice for the second time in three outings and did not record a strikeout for just the second time in 17 starts. Koehler suffered a hard-luck loss in his last encounter with the Reds, permitting two unearned runs on five hits in seven innings on July 31, 2014.

WALK-OFFS

1. Cincinnati CF Billy Hamilton, who tweaked his right knee in the series opener, is 4-for-33 in his last nine games.

2. Miami SS Adeiny Hechavarria is 0-for-14 in his last four contests.

3. Reds OF Jay Bruce replaced injured Cubs OF Dexter Fowler on the National League roster for the upcoming All-Star Game.

GAME: Washington Nationals (53-36) at New York Mets (47-40)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 1:10 PM EST
WHERE: Citi Field, New York City, New York
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Washington Nationals have a chance to push their lead in the National League East to six games heading into the All-Star break. The Nationals attempt to do just that and earn a series win when they visit the second-place New York Mets in the finale of a four-game series on Sunday.

The Mets took the series opener on Thursday but are rapidly losing players to injury while watching playoff hero Daniel Murphy perform at an All-Star level for Washington. New York added All-Star right-hander Noah Syndergaard and slugger Yoenis Cespedes to its injury list on Friday and did not have enough without Cespedes in the lineup to make a dent in Nationals star Max Scherzer during Saturday’s 6-1 loss. Murphy is batting .438 with six home runs and 19 in 12 games against the Mets, which elected to let the All-Star second baseman leave in free agency over the winter. Murphy leads the majors in hitting with a .349 batting average and is 1-for-3 with a single in his career against New York lefty Steven Matz, who is scheduled to start on Sunday.

TV: 1:10 p.m. TBS, MASN (Washington), WPIX (New York)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals LH Gio Gonzalez (4-8, 4.79 ERA) vs. Mets LH Steven Matz (7-4, 3.34)

Gonzalez is 1-7 in his last nine starts and has seen his ERA rise nearly three runs from 1.86 to 4.79 in that span. That ERA actually came down a bit on Tuesday, when he allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings in a loss to Milwaukee. Gonzalez won at New York with six strong innings on May 18 but was lit up for seven runs on 10 hits in five frames against the Mets on May 23.

Matz is one of several New York pitchers struggling of late and is 0-3 in his last seven outings. The 25-year-old is pitching through elbow discomfort and could not get enough help from his offense to come out with a win on Tuesday, when he held Miami to two runs over seven innings. Matz posted one of his best starts at Washington on May 25, striking out seven and walking one while scattering four hits over eight scoreless innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Cespedes (quad) will not play in Tuesday’s All-Star Game but could be available to pinch hit on Sunday.

2. New York RF Curtis Granderson recorded multiple hits in three of the last four games.

3. Washington RHP Joe Ross (shoulder) threw on flat ground Saturday and will throw a bullpen session during the All-Star break.

GAME: Chicago Cubs (52-35) at Pittsburgh Pirates (46-42)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 1:35 PM EST
WHERE: PNC Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Chicago Cubs were the darlings of baseball for the first two-plus months of the regular season but look like the team most in need of a break as they limp toward All-Star week. The Cubs will try to snap a five-game slide and turn the momentum a bit when they visit the Pittsburgh Pirates in the finale of a three-game series on Sunday.

Chicago has lost nine of 10 contests and 15 of the last 20 – a stretch that began after the team moved to 47-20 with a three-game sweep of the Pirates from June 17-19. The Cubs are trying to plug holes in the rotation and in the bullpen with an average of 7.4 runs allowed in the last 10 games – culminating with a 12-6 loss on Saturday in which All-Star left-hander Jon Lester was ripped for five runs in three innings. The Pirates are riding a youth wave led by top prospects Tyler Glasnow and Josh Bell, who contributed a pair of key pinch hits in the last two games. Bell belted his first career home run on Saturday when he came on in the fifth inning and sent a grand slam out to right field.

TV: 1:35 p.m. ET, WGN (Chicago), ROOT (Pittsburgh)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs RH John Lackey (7-5, 3.50 ERA) vs. LH Jonathon Niese (7-6, 4.87)

Lackey is a big part of Chicago’s recent pitching struggles and was rocked for six runs – five earned – on six hits and five walks over six innings against Cincinnati on Tuesday. The veteran Texan has seen his ERA rise from 2.66 to 3.50 over the last four starts with 17 earned runs allowed in 22 2/3 innings in that span. Lackey went 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA in three starts against Pittsburgh as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals last season.

Niese is rumored to be on the trade block and put on a good show for the scouts when he snapped a four-start losing streak by limiting the Cardinals to one run in 5 2/3 innings on Monday. The 29-year-old had an MRI on his ailing left knee on Tuesday come back with no structural damage and moved through the week without an issue. Niese was ripped for four runs on six hits – three home runs – on 5 1/3 innings at Chicago on June 18.

WALK-OFFS

1. Pirates 2B Josh Harrison (left foot) and OF Matt Joyce (left quad) both left Saturday’s game and are day-to-day.

2. Cubs CF Dexter Fowler (hamstring) will not play in Tuesday’s All-Star Game.

3. Chicago C David Ross (concussion) could return after the All-Star break.

GAME: Los Angeles Angels (37-51) at Baltimore Orioles (50-36)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 1:35 PM EST
WHERE: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Baltimore Orioles will try to end a surprisingly successful first half with a series win when they host the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series. The Orioles, who had recently dropped six of eight, rallied to end the slide with a 3-2 win Saturday to open up a two-game lead in the American League East and ensure themselves of a first-place spot at the All-Star break.

That's no small feat for a team many picked to be at or near the bottom of the division, but standouts like Mark Trumbo - who slugged his major league-leading 28th homer in the win - has pushed Baltimore to a 50-win first half, with one more game to go. Chris Tillman will put an 11-2 record on the line in the first-half finale for the Orioles opposite Tim Lincecum, whose return to the majors has not gone well. The former San Francisco Giant is 0-2 with a 10.50 ERA over his last three starts after debuting with the Angels with a win and six solid innings on June 18. Los Angeles had a four-game winning streak snapped with Saturday's loss and is 5-4 on its current 10-game road trip.

TV: 1:35 p.m. ET, FSN West (Los Angeles), MASN2 (Baltimore), WJZ (Baltimore)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Angels RH Tim Lincecum (1-2, 7.50 ERA) vs. Orioles RH Chris Tillman (11-2, 3.55)

Lincecum has given up 29 hits and nine walks in his first 18 innings with Los Angeles and failed to complete five innings in his last three starts. The two-time Cy Young Award winner gave up five runs on 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings at Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Trumbo has a home run and a double in eight at-bats versus Lincecum, who struck out 10 in six innings to win his only prior start against Baltimore in 2010.

Tillman rebounded from a trio of poor performances to stymie the Los Angeles Dodgers through seven innings on Tuesday. He gave up a run and five hits to pick up his first win since June 14, despite striking out only two. The 28-year-old is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in four career starts against the Angels.

WALK-OFFS

1. Orioles 2B Jonathan Schoop had the go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning on Saturday and is 12-for-33 during an eight-game hitting streak.

2. Angels SS Andrelton Simmons has hit safely in 11 consecutive games.

3. Baltimore LHP Zach Britton has converted 26 straight saves to begin the season.

Preview: Rays at Red Sox

GAME: Tampa Bay Rays (34-53) at Boston Red Sox (48-38)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 1:35 PM EST
WHERE: Fenway Park, Boston, Massachusetts
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Boston Red Sox are enduring a tough run of injuries and couldn’t be facing a better team to ease their pain as they go for a three-game home sweep of the slumping Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. Red Sox ace David Price will pitch the final game before the All-Star break but has not fared well against his former team, going 1-3 with a 6.52 ERA in five starts.

Boston lost closer Craig Kimbrel for at least 3-6 weeks with a torn meniscus that will require surgery on Monday and acquired right-handed reliever Brad Ziegler from Arizona for a pair of minor leaguers after Friday’s game. Ziegler could be available Sunday, but the Red Sox will be without utilityman Brock Holt (ankle) and reliever Junichi Tazawa (shoulder) as they go for their sixth win in seven contests. Xander Bogaerts belted a two-run homer in Saturday's 4-1 victory, which resulted in Tampa Bay's 21st loss in 24 games. Evan Longoria is 6-for-9 in the series for the Rays, who will send possible trade target Jake Odorizzi to the mound on Sunday.

TV: 1:35 p.m. ET, FSN Sun (Tampa Bay), NESN (Boston)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rays RH Jake Odorizzi (3-4, 4.33 ERA) vs. Red Sox LH David Price (8-6, 4.64)

Odorizzi lost for the first time in more than a month on Tuesday, giving up a season-high seven runs over 5 1/3 innings against the Los Angeles Angels. The 26-year-old has yielded five or more runs in three of his last five outings and has not completed more than six innings since May 29. Bogaerts is 7-for-16 with three doubles versus Odorizzi, who is 2-2 lifetime with a 4.07 ERA against Boston.

Price finished eight innings for the fourth time in six starts on Tuesday against Texas but lost his second straight outing. The former American League Cy Young Award winner has especially struggled versus his former team this season, allowing 12 runs and 17 hits over 10 innings in two turns – including a loss on June 29. Curt Casali is 6-for-11 with three homers against Price, who owns a 5.74 ERA in day games.

WALK-OFFS

1. Tampa Bay SS Brad Miller has belted a career-high 14 homers, including five in his last 12 games after going deep Saturday.

2. Boston RF Mookie Betts has hit safely in 10 consecutive contests and 15 of his last 16.

3. Rays CF Kevin Kiermaier (wrist), who has been out since May 21, is expected to begin a rehab assignment Monday.

Preview: Braves at White Sox

GAME: Atlanta Braves (30-58) at Chicago White Sox (45-42)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago, Illinois
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The hits have been few and far between for Todd Frazier in his first season with the Chicago White Sox, but last year’s Home Run Derby champion is heating up just in time to defend his title. Frazier enters Chicago's home contest Sunday against the Atlanta Braves having homered in each of the first two games of the series, after hitting only two in his previous 13 contests.

Frazier is among the major league leaders with 25 homers, but is hitting just .215 after batting .257 in five seasons with Cincinnati. The Braves – who are last in the majors in homers – have enjoyed their time in Chicago, hitting eight homers in the past three games (including Thursday's make-up contest with the Cubs). The White Sox lost the series opener before winning 5-4 on Saturday -- their 12th victory in the past 18 games -- and have not lost a series since being swept June 17-19 at Cleveland. Atlanta got homers from Gordon Beckham, Freddie Freeman and Jeff Francoeur in Saturday's defeat, falling to 3-9 in interleague play and 6-12 in its past 18 contests.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, FSN South (Atlanta), CSN Chicago

PITCHING MATCHUP: Braves RH Mike Foltynewicz (2-3, 4.29 ERA) vs. White Sox RH James Shields (4-9, 5.67)

Foltynewicz missed a month with bone spurs in his right elbow, and after a rain-shortened three-inning effort against the New York Mets in his return June 30, he allowed five runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings in losing Tuesday at Philadelphia. The 24-year-old has been hurt by the long ball, giving up 11 homers in just 42 innings – including four blasts in Tuesday’s defeat. Left-handed batters have given Foltynewicz trouble, hitting six homers in 65 at-bats off him while posting a .308 batting average.

Shields struggled mightily in his first three starts after being traded from San Diego in early June, but has settled down in winning his past two outings. He held the New York Yankees to two runs on five hits in six innings Monday, after limiting Minnesota to one run and eight hits on June 29. Shields, who is 2-2 with a 9.23 ERA in six starts with Chicago after going 2-7 with a 4.28 mark in 11 outings for the Padres, is 1-2 in four career starts against Atlanta with a 4.24 ERA.

WALK-OFFS

1. Chicago placed LHP Carlos Rodon on the disabled list after he slipped on the dugout steps Friday and sprained his left wrist.

2. Braves C Tyler Flowers left Saturday’s game in the second inning with a strained left hand, replaced by A.J. Pierzynski.

3. White Sox RHP Nate Jones has made seven consecutive scoreless appearances and is holding first batters to a .105 average, earning his third save of the season Saturday.

GAME: Oakland Athletics (38-50) at Houston Astros (47-41)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

After a surprisingly rocky first half, the Houston Astros have moved back into playoff contention with a 30-13 record over their last 43 contests. They’ll look to take that positive momentum into the All-Star break on Sunday as they face the visiting Oakland Athletics in the rubber match of their three-game series.

The Athletics evened the series on Saturday with a 3-2 victory as All-Star catcher Stephen Vogt went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. The 31-year-old was named an All-Star for the second straight year and has been one of the few bright spots for Oakland, which is 25-38 since the beginning of May. "To be recognized as an All-Star, it’s just crazy,” Vogt told reporters. “In my mind, I’m pretty hard on myself, so I didn’t think there was any way this year it would happen. I think it’s just something so cool.” Houston's George Springer won’t be joining Vogt after finishing second in the fan’s Final Vote, but the 26-year-old has sparked the team’s resurgence since being moved to the leadoff spot in the batting order. Springer was held out of the starting lineup for the first time this season on Saturday but appeared as a pinch-runner in the ninth inning.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Athletics LH Sean Manaea (3-5, 5.85 ERA) vs. Astros LH Dallas Keuchel (6-9, 5.02)

Manaea is looking to bounce back from a rough outing on Tuesday, when he allowed six runs over five frames in an 11-4 loss to Minnesota. The 24-year-old is 0-3 with an 11.66 ERA in three starts on the road compared to a 3-2 record and 3.97 ERA in eight turns at home. Manaea made his major-league debut against Houston at home on April 29 and received a no-decision after yielding four runs in five innings.

Keuchel brings a three-game winning streak into Sunday’s contest after allowing two runs over six innings in Tuesday’s 5-2 victory over Seattle. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, who is 2-3 with a 2.92 ERA in 12 career games (10 starts) against Oakland, has regained his command in his last nine starts, recording 52 strikeouts and only 10 walks. “I don’t feel like I’m on a roll,” Keuchel told reporters. “I just feel like I’m coming out in every start and giving the team a chance to win now, and that’s a good feeling.”

WALK-OFFS

1. Houston 3B Luis Valbuena is 9-for-21 with three home runs and nine RBIs during his six-game hitting streak.

2. The Athletics have gone a franchise-record 15 consecutive games without an error.

3. Astros RHP Ken Giles has posted a 2.13 ERA in his last 27 appearances covering 25 1/3 innings.

Preview: Cardinals at Brewers

GAME: St. Louis Cardinals (45-42) at Milwaukee Brewers (38-48)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Miller Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Right-hander Junior Guerra looks to avenge his lone loss of the season on Sunday as the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals play the rubber match of their three-game series at Miller Park. The 31-year-old Venezuelan was taken to task by St. Louis on May 30, but has rebounded by winning each of his last three outings while amassing a 15 1/3-scoreless innings streak over his last two.

A strong pitching performance is sorely needed for the Brewers, who allowed three homers in Saturday's 8-1 setback and fell to the Cardinals for the eighth time in 11 outings this season. Aledmys Diaz launched a three-run shot on Saturday to extend his hitting streak to five games for St. Louis, which is 12-0-1 in its last 13 series with its National League Central rival. The 25-year-old Cuban has feasted on Milwaukee pitching this season, going 15-for-46 with two homers, eight RBIs and seven runs in the 11 encounters and 2-for-3 versus Guerra. Jonathan Villar scored the Brewers' lone run on Saturday and is 6-for-17 with three doubles and as many runs scored to along with five steals during his four-game hitting streak.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, FSN Midwest (St. Louis), FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Mike Leake (5-7, 4.33 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Junior Guerra (6-1, 2.93)

Leake suffered his third straight loss after allowing five runs for the second time in that stretch in a 5-2 setback to Pittsburgh on Tuesday. The 28-year-old looks to get back on track versus Milwaukee, against which he yielded two runs in six innings of a 10-3 triumph on May 31. That victory came on the road for Leake, who is 4-3 in nine starts this season away from Busch Stadium.

Guerra recorded his second consecutive two-hit, seven-strikeout performance in Monday's 1-0 victory over Washington. The four-hit total accounts for half of the amount that the 31-year-old Venezuelan permitted over 6 1/3 innings in a 6-0 setback to the Cardinals. Guerra has been brilliant at home this season, posting a 4-1 mark with a 2.48 ERA and 1.00 WHIP while limiting the opposition to a .206 batting average.

WALK-OFFS

1. St. Louis RF Stephen Piscotty has three homers, eight RBIs and 10 runs scored while hitting safely in nine of his last 10 games.

2. Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett has hit safely in each of his last four games versus the Cardinals.

3. St. Louis 3B Jhonny Peralta homered in his return to the starting lineup following a three-game absence.

Preview: Mariners at Royals

GAME: Seattle Mariners (44-44) at Kansas City Royals (45-42)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 2:15 PM EST
WHERE: Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Once upon a time, the Kansas City Royals likely envisioned Mike Montgomery working his magic in Kauffman Stadium in hopes he could steer a downtrodden franchise to a World Series title. Montgomery was denied the ability to deliver on that promise when the Royals traded him in 2012, and four years later he'll finally make his first start at "The K" on Sunday when the Seattle Mariners try to split a four-game series in Kansas City.

Montgomery, along with four other players, was part of a huge offseason deal with Tampa Bay four years ago that allowed the Royals to acquire James Shields and Wade Davis before he could ever step foot in Kauffman Stadium. Another trade before the start of last season sent him from the Rays to the Mariners, who watched him strike out 10 Royals in Seattle last June as part of a five-hit shutout near the end of a brilliant first month in the majors. Montgomery will hope to play the role of stopper, however, as Seattle (44-44) has dropped five of six following a four-game winning streak and is in danger of finishing the first half under the break-even mark after being a season-high 10 games over .500 in late May. Kansas City is riding the red-hot bat of All-Star catcher Salvador Perez, who is 5-for-10 with two solo homers, four RBIs and five runs scored over the first three games of this series.

TV: 2:15 p.m. ET, ROOT (Seattle), FSN Kansas City

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mariners LH Mike Montgomery (2-3, 2.15 ERA) vs. Royals RH Dillon Gee (3-2, 4.05)

With Taijuan Walker landing on the disabled list, Montgomery will be summoned from the bullpen to make his first spot start of the year and the 17th of his career. The former Royals farmhand has been excellent in relief recently, giving up only five hits and a walk while striking out 11 over his last four appearances spanning 10 2/3 scoreless innings. Montgomery worked a scoreless frame versus the Royals on May 1 in his only other appearance against the team that drafted him No. 36 overall in 2008.

Gee was forced into emergency duty at Philadelphia last Sunday and did not factor into the decision after allowing one run on four hits in 2 1/3 innings. The 30-year-old Texan is 2-2 with a 6.05 ERA in four starts this season and hasn't taken a turn in the rotation since permitting four runs over five frames in a win versus Tampa Bay on May 31. Gee replaces Chris Young in the rotation after he went 1-8 with a 7.39 ERA in 13 starts.

WALK-OFFS

1. Kansas City SS Alcides Escobar extended his career-high on-base streak to a major league-best 25 straight games with a two-hit effort Saturday.

2. Seattle 3B Kyle Seager is 15-for-32 with three home runs, nine RBIs and six multi-hit games during his nine-game hitting streak to begin July.

3. Perez is tied with New York Yankees C Brian McCann for the most homers among catchers in the majors (14) and recorded his 18th career pickoff Saturday, which is the most in majors since he made his debut in 2011.

Preview: Twins at Rangers

GAME: Minnesota Twins (31-56) at Texas Rangers (54-35)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 3:05 PM EST
WHERE: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Minnesota Twins have the least amount of wins in the American League, but they are causing all kinds of problems for the West Division-leading Texas Rangers this season. The Twins visit Texas on Sunday in search of their fifth win in seven games against the Rangers after pounding out 47 runs in six contests during the season series, including Saturday’s 8-6 triumph.

All-Star Eduardo Nunez belted a two-run homer to key the victory on Saturday and Eddie Rosario also went deep while improving to 7-for-15 in the series for Minnesota, which has won six of its last eight contests overall. The Rangers still lead second-place Houston by 6 ½ games in the AL West despite losing eight of their last 11 contests. A.J. Griffin will attempt to give Texas' struggling starting rotation a boost when he opposes Tommy Milone on Sunday. Elvis Andrus is 5-for-11 with four RBIs in the series and has recorded multiple hits in four of his last six games for the Rangers.

TV: 3:05 p.m. ET, FSN North (Minnesota), FSN Southwest (Texas)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins LH Tommy Milone (1-2, 5.45 ERA) vs. Rangers RH A.J. Griffin (3-0, 3.06)

Milone is coming off his best outing of the season, a start in which he allowed one run and five hits over six innings to notch his first victory since last September. The 29-year-old USC product has struggled on the road in 2016, going 0-2 with a 6.86 ERA in five games (four starts). Adrian Beltre is 9-for-19 with a pair of homers versus Milone, who is 2-4 with a 4.62 ERA in nine career contests against Texas.

Griffin has kept the damage low in three starts since returning from the disabled list but has not completed more than five innings in any of them. The California native held Boston to two runs on seven hits and three walks over four innings last time out in a game Texas went on to win 7-2. Joe Mauer is 2-for-3 versus Griffin, who is 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA in two career starts against Minnesota.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Twins have belted 25 homers in their last 14 games and currently have hit the fourth-most in club history at the All-Star break (101).

2. Texas CF Ian Desmond registered three hits Saturday to push his total to 112 – tied for fourth in the American League.

3. Minnesota CF Byron Buxton (right knee bruise) likely will sit out until after the All-Star break.

Preview: Phillies at Rockies

GAME: Philadelphia Phillies (41-48) at Colorado Rockies (40-47)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Coors Field, Denver, Colorado
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Unbeaten in three straight series, the Philadelphia Phillies attempt to extend the streak when they visit the Colorado Rockies on Sunday for the finale of their four-game set. Philadelphia wrapped three-game sweeps at Arizona and against Atlanta around a series in which it took two of three from Kansas City before traveling to Colorado.

The trip has been disappointing thus far, however, as the Phillies lost two of the first three contests by a combined score of 19-5. A visit by Philadelphia has been just what Colorado needed, as the club lost seven of eight before the National League East squad came to town. The bottom of the Rockies' batting order provided plenty of pop Saturday as Tony Wolters went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs while Tyler Anderson, who tossed six solid innings, was 2-for-2 with a two-run homer. Colorado has not won a series since sweeping a two-game set against the New York Yankees from June 14-15, going 0-4-2 since.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, CSN Philadelphia, ROOT (Colorado)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Phillies RH Zach Eflin (1-2, 4.30 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Tyler Chatwood (8-4, 3.08)

Eflin is coming off his first major-league victory, a complete-game triumph over Atlanta on Tuesday in which he allowed one run and six hits while registering a career-high six strikeouts. It marked the second time in three outings the 22-year-old Floridian gave up fewer than two runs, as he yielded just an unearned run over six innings of a no-decision at San Francisco on June 24. Eflin has surrendered a total of six earned runs over 26 2/3 frames in his last four turns after being tagged for eight in his major-league debut at Toronto on June 14.

Chatwood settled for a no-decision in his return from the disabled list on Tuesday after allowing two runs - one earned - and three hits in five innings at San Francisco. The 26-year-old Californian is unbeaten (2-0) in his last four outings, giving up a total of eight earned runs over 21 1/3 frames, and has won four of his last five decisions. Chatwood has yet to lose to Philadelphia, going 2-0 with a 2.12 ERA in three career starts.

WALK-OFFS

1. Phillies 1B Tommy Joseph has enjoyed playing at Coors Field as he is 5-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs in two contests.

2. Thanks to injuries to Yoenis Cespedes of the Mets and Dexter Fowler of the Chicago Cubs, Colorado OF Carlos Gonzalez will be in the starting lineup for the NL in Tuesday's All-Star Game.

3. Philadelphia RHP Aaron Nola is expected to start against Miami on July 18 after being skipped over his final outing due to fatigue.

Preview: Padres at Dodgers

GAME: San Diego Padres (38-50) at Los Angeles Dodgers (50-40)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 10 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reached 50 wins before the All-Star break and will try to keep the momentum up when they host the San Diego Padres in the finale of a four-game series on Sunday. The Dodgers dropped the opener of the four-game set but took the next two as they try to keep the division-leading San Francisco Giants in their sights.

Los Angeles totaled five runs during a three-game slide, culminating in a 6-0 loss to the Padres in the series opener on Thursday, but has pounded out 14 runs in the last two contests. Yasmani Grandal broke out of a lengthy slump with a 5-for-5, three-homer, effort in Friday’s 10-6 triumph and Howie Kendrick is using the final homestand before the break to find his own power stroke with six extra-base hits in the last nine contests. The Padres were rolling along on offense as well with an average of 7.6 runs in five previous games before managing three hits in in Saturday’s 4-3 setback. San Diego came to Los Angeles with two straight series wins and is looking for a split before heading back home to play host to the All-Star festivities.

TV: 4:10 p.m. FSN San Diego, SportsNet Los Angeles

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres LH Christian Friedrich (4-4, 4.42 ERA) vs. Dodgers RH Kenta Maeda (7-6, 3.07)

Friedrich is limping into the break with four straight sub-par efforts and back-to-back losses. The Eastern Kentucky product, who turned 29 on Friday, has allowed 19 earned runs in 21 innings over his last four turns and failed to record an out in the sixth inning in any of the last three. Friedrich had some trouble with his command at home against Los Angeles on May 20, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks in 3 1/3 innings without factoring in the decision.

Maeda is trying to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in his last six decisions. The Japan native breezed through six innings while yielding one run in a win at Milwaukee on June 30 but was knocked around for four runs on seven hits and three walks over four frames against Baltimore on Tuesday. Maeda tossed six scoreless innings at San Diego on April 6 but was reached for four runs in five frames against the Padres on May 22.

WALK-OFFS

1. Dodgers LHP Adam Liberatore struck out both batters he faced on Saturday to set a club record with his 24th consecutive scoreless appearance.

2. San Diego LHP Drew Pomeranz was added to the National League All-Star team.

3. Los Angeles rookie LHP Julio Urias will pitch in relief in the minors as the team monitors his innings.

PREDICTION: Dodgers 6, Padres 5
