St. Louis getting 2 at home against a banged up NE squad. Looks like an easy play on the home team. What am I missing?

I like the Rams too......and I hope it's "too easy," but NE has been a covering machine for "2 years." GL

why is everyone always betting against NE. These guys have lost 1 game in a year and a half and their something like 17-3-2 ATS in that span.

NE is hurting in thier secondary with Ty Law and Tyrone Poole out, which fits right into the Rams passing game. Also Corey Dillon may not play this sunday, if he does he may not be 100%.

NE will be struggling with all of these guys out and trying to keep the ball away from the Rams offense. Not saying that NE doesn't have a chance, but it will definately be a hard challenge for them this week.

don't forget about bulger's bruised shoulder given to him courtesy of miami, hard to pass with that kind of injury.

In the past year and a half there has been plenty of times when NE had hurt players. Actually they didn't even have Corey Dillion last year. They still found ways to get it done. STL may win but in my opinion there is just easier games out there this weekend.

I like St Louis as well, got down on the Rams at +2.5 and bought it up to +3 for a dollar. Bodog has +2.5 right now, everywhere else is averaging in at NE -1.

Martz is 4-0 coming off a bye week and Bulger is 15-1 at home as a starting Qb. Rams are 20-9 against the spread hosting afc opponents. New England is a great team, but non divison road games they are 0-9 against the spread as a favorite off of a straight up loss and only 4-12-1 against the spread as november favs. Law, Poole and Dillon look like they are out.

Man,

the last time NE was a away fav vs a non divison opponet and off a SU loss was in the middle of 2000. That is pretty much a meaningless stat. But if you like stats here some more for you.

NE is 2-0 ATS this year against NFC west opponets
NE is 4-2 ATS on turf last 3 years
NE is 9-6 ATS in games with the line between +3 to -3 last 3 years.
NE is 7-4 ATS in non conferance games last 3 years
NE is 5-4 ATS in november games last 3 years.

STL is 2-1 ATS after a bye week L 3 Y
STL is 0-1 ATS this year vs. AFC East
STL is 1-3 ATS this year in dome games. 10-11 L 3 Y
STL is 1-3 ATS on turf this year. 11-13 L 3 Y
STL is 0-1 this year when the line is b/t +3 to -3 and 3-6 L 3 Y
STL is 3-6 in Nov. games L 3 Y.

I'm not a big stat guy but to me they have basically no meaning if they aren't remotely present. All my stats go back no more than 3 years because anything past that and your not really talking about the same team. Just differant guys wearing the same uniform.

and again STL may win and cover but I just don't bet against NE. Think of how much money was lost in the last month by people saying this week there going to lose.

I don't usually play my team but the Rams are definitely the play.

1. Embarrassed from Miami game
2. Martz wants payback from Super Bowl and will do what he should have done in that game and that is run Faulk and Jackson
3. Win here by Rams sets up showdown for division with Seattle next week
4. Coming off of bye week
5. Rams were looking ahead to bye and Patriots vs Miami, they won't be here
6. Rams have lost only 1 regular season home game in like 2 seasons
7. Most importantly, Pats secondary is beat up and limited numbers vs Rams which is a huge deal vs Rams. In the St. Louis Post Dispatch this week, they have been making huge deal over new rule not being enforced against db's for contact after 5 yards. This rule was instituted due to Pats reaching and grabbing in Super Bowl.

In conclusion, Martz is inferior to Bellichick but this is a game they have circled and especially Martz. He was known as a genius instead of a boob until poor coaching job vs Bellichick in Super Bowl. Rams will have a surprising easy win here. This is no trap. Patriots are to beat up and will be facing a hostile crowd and fired up football team. Maybe more than what they faced in Pittsburgh. Rams 35 Patriots 21. BOL.

Bulger shoulder?

I wasn't aware of any Bulger shoulder problem and that would change my thinking. I don't see anything on injury list. Will have to go check into that. Thanks everyone for all the input. I agree you have to respect NE (how could you not?), but this just looks like a nice spot for the Rams to me. I'm not a big Rams fan, but they are a different (much better) team at home, off a bye, off a bad loss, and New England is all beat up, this is second road game in a row for them, etc. Betting against NE would normally not be my first choice, but it just seems like everything has lined up to favor the Rams this week. Maybe that should be making me nervous.

I try to never bet St Louis for one simple reason, MIKE MARTZ!!! This guy is the worst coach in the NFL bar none....

Exactly. With the Pats db's all out, that idiot Martz will throw about 60 times. This means less touches for Faulk and Jackson. This is good for NE. Martz is the worst coach in the league.

BadAz- This line puzzles me as well. I don't play many NFL games because it's such a garbage league but this is a play I already made. The Patriot's shorthanded secondary will get lit up all afternoon. Sure, the Ram's brain drain on the sidelines with Martz doesn't help but this is a good spot for the Rams to come up with a solid win.
