S-Jax is inching up our draftboards, though we'd be sure to "handcuff" Isaiah Pead.

Jackson said he felt a strain in his groin during the second quarter drive that ended with his unsportsmanlike penalty. "I felt I was going to be able to come back and play. But as I was standing on the sidelines, it started to bother me more and more," he said. "We were just real cautious with it and made sure we didn't make it any worse than what it is." Rookie backup Daryl Richardson is the clear handcuff here.

It's possible Jackson could be held out of practice all week and still start against the Bears, so there's no reason to worry yet. His status should clarify in the next 48 hours, but it's quite possible he'll end up a game-time decision. We suspect he'll play, but owners need to have a contingency plan at the ready.

Jackson is headed toward a questionable designation on Friday's injury report, and game-time decision on Sunday. A nine-year veteran with 2,168 career carries, Jackson is the kind of player who can play and be effective on Sunday with zero reps Wednesday-Friday, but things are certainly trending in the wrong direction. Owners need to have a backup plan. Rookie Daryl Richardson will be a plug-and-play flex option in deeper leagues if S-Jax is a no-go.

He's played through similar groin injuries in several previous seasons and says this one isn't as significant as initially suspected. He knows his body, he knows this offense, I'm not concerned about that."

Should Jackson be declared inactive, seventh-round rookie Daryl Richardson would get the start at Chicago.

Jackson clearly wasn't playing at 100 percent through the groin injury last week at Soldier Field, and he didn't appear to turn any corners in his recovery this week. We'd lean toward shying away from Jackson in Week 4 fantasy lineups, even in a flex spot. The matchup is brutal against Seattle's stout front seven, and Jackson is unlikely to be operating at full strength.

He appeared to be at far less than 100 percent against the Bears last Sunday, however, and CBS' Jason La Canfora reports he could have a "reduced role" against the Seahawks. That's not good news, as the only way an ailing S-Jax was likely to have a serviceable afternoon against the Seahawks' No. 2 run defense was with a heavy workload. Jackson is a highly questionable flex option for Week 4. He'll likely be spelled often by rookie Daryl Richardson.

Steven Jackson (groin) is listed as questionable for Thursday Night Football.

Jackson was a game-time decision each of the past two weeks, but is ready to go against the Cardinals after coming out of Sunday's win healthy. Jackson looked much stronger against the Seahawks than he did against the Bears, and will be a borderline RB2 against the Cardinals' 14th ranked run defense.

Appearing on NFL Network's First on the Field, Michael Lombardi said the Rams are "shopping several players" to the rest of the league prior to the October 30 trade deadline.

Lombardi failed to mention specific names, but the Rams are the youngest team in the league and don't have many veterans that would seem to interest contending teams, aside from Steven Jackson. S-Jax makes sense because he and the Rams restructured his contract, making him a free agent after the 2012 season. He and rookie Daryl Richardson have also been splitting carries in recent weeks. Neither player has found the end zone this season, as the Rams have just one rushing touchdown as a team. Still, it's a long shot that Jackson is traded this week. Rookie GM Les Snead won't be scared to pull the trigger, though.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday Countdown yesterday that the Rams have fielded trade offers from "multiple teams" regarding the availability of Steven Jackson prior to Tuesday's tentative trade deadline.

The deadline is tentative because the NFL is considering pushing it back due to Hurricane Sandy. Schefter mentioned the Cowboys, Packers, Cardinals, and Steelers as teams that "make sense as potential interested clubs," and the Rams are very much willing to listen to offers. Packers GM Ted Thompson has reportedly been a longtime admirer of S-Jax, and offered the Rams "significant packages" on the trade market for Jackson in the past.

SI.com's Peter King sets the odds of a Steven Jackson trade at "55 percent."

We believe that's on the optimistic side. King came up with the percentage based on the opinion of one AFC personnel man. "Even though he's due a lot of money,'' the source said, "he's got real value for a contender because he can still play, and there're a few teams out there that really need a running back." King points to the Packers, Cardinals, and Cowboys as the "logical suspects" to meet the Rams' likely asking price of a third- or fourth-round pick.
