Doug, great point.Action points is a great way to really take advantage of solid plays. Here's my reasoning of not posting it yet. It's sorta liken something that is dangerous in the wrong hands.
Being honest here,I've stated many times, that my moneymanagement is not great, but that I get away with it by working my ass off capping, and being good at what I do.That being said,I also have a great # advantage many times when the game goes off(# moves in my favor many more times than not.
What I've come to the conclusion to(read that hockey thread),is that some guys really look at my plays as a sort of lottery.with the amounts I play, and when I get hot, they sort of expect me not to lose.So they bet crazy amounts on my plays.I lose just like evryone,so they can get hurt on any given night.SO getting back to your point, action points is like the Heroin of gambling. All you have to do is hit 1 big one and you think it's the best thing since sliced bread.Yet they are very dangerous.Take a Mavs game. The total is 220.let's say I bet that game action points.I bet it for 500 a point,30 point cap.therefore risking over 15k on the play.obviously it's very hard to imagine the game playiong out less than 200 pts.better yet less than 190.So you think, maybe with overtime, this game has a chance to get to 250-260.maybe higher.
Nash gets hurt in the 1st qtr.bang, total lands 186.you just lost 15k+.Obviously I'm exagerating to state my point, but it's very realistic.Action points are great, don't get me wrong. And one day,I will start explaining them more thouroughly. But for now,I wanna teach guys other things.
Hope this answers your question DougJ.you are right on the money with that comment.also, you see the hockey plays.Mora actually comes through.and gets to overtime just like I asked.huge day
also,Rhode Island a huge win guys.great morning so far
It's sort of like a teacher and a curriculum.Action points are at the end of the year.lol.then you graduate.I want guys to learn middling and scalping now, which in itself is challenging and rewarding.
So basically #1- I don't want to see guys get hurt by using this great tool(action points)too often and in the wrong spots.lots of money can be lost.
when I get serious about explaining it,I'll break it down into how much BR should be risked on each pt and how you should cap it.it gets tricky.
Here's a hint though, which I think you already know Doug.never bet action points on a game to go under.Even if you love the play, and your delta is great.with overtime,it can ruin a day.
SO always bet action point plays to the over.there can be value in teams as well.
Action points are unreal tool to use in college football totals.with the way overtimes are played.you could have action points over 40.the game goes into overtime 20-20,and ends up 48-44 in a heartbeat.that's 52 pts.lolololol.
Anyways,I just wanna see guys do well.don't want anyone getting hurt.and while we are all grown men, still a chance to misuse them.when guys have middling and scalping down,I'll focus there.
For the record,I use action points frequently.I believe some shops have stopped using them based on myself and my buddies.lolas they have correlated parlays in baseball and hockey(huge moneymakers)(I'll explain that one closer to bases)
