Where's Papa Joe this year? Don't past champs get invited back or did he just decide not to come?

go back and read the first line of the 2nd paragraph. since tuley wants me to comment on this - i will.

see what happens when joe lupo leaves? bob scucci doesn't allow scumbags such as wayne root to get down on their knees and give the sportsbook director a blow job in exchange for getting in something they have no business being in - in the first place.

i can "live" with this field. white and iskoe are solid guys. i know cokin catches a lot of hell here - but i sense he will do well. having lem banker in the field gives it a "name" and while len of 2003 isn't the same as len of 1983, i sense he won't pull a "root" and go 1-6 and act like an ass on air for 60 minutes - talking about everything BUT the games.

as for the 1st round - give me malinsky here. papa joe tends to get VERY lucky in past competitions. the week he goes 2-5 so does the other guy - and either papa joe hits his BB while the other one doesn't - or they come back the next week and papa joe wins that one.

it's basically all luck in that if you are hot one week - the other guy might be, too. i know when in vegas for the pary, stephen nover said he was in it 1 week and went something like 5-2 and got knocked out. at the party i also spoke to you, dave, about this and your efforts in the past. it really is a crapshoot and like the ncaa hoops tourney - the best person (team) doesn't always win in a "1 and done" deal.

Interesting, no amateurs this year. Was silly to hear guys like Napoleon McCallum picking all his favorite and former teams, but they gave the top handicappers an easy first round. There is certainly a lot of luck to win here, but if I had to rate the three I would say my favorites are:

1. White
2. Cokin
3. O'Neill

iskoe sucks, guy never played down a football in his life, and his opinion is lame.

the week iskoe picks his 7 games - pick 7 of your own to "go up against him" and i'll bet HE wins. why such venom from a fellow FVHS grad? did you get tossed out and have to go to school at "wintersburg"?

Agree with your take on Lupo - an unctuous sleazebag, and unbelievably overrated.
It's not surprising he fell upward, and he's perfectly suited for being a casino executive - smarmy and full of self-serving self-promoting sh*t.
