Stanford Sam's 2018 College Basketball Picks (starting on 1/10)

I will be posting my college basketball picks daily and tracking my records on here from now on. So far, I have had a pretty profitable season on the college front, and am looking to provide some insight on each night's games.

I won't keep track of profits/units on here, just picking accuracy. I don't make "gimme" picks to boost the record, and will pick ML generally for upsets. So hitting a bit over .500 should generate profit.

The amount of picks I post will vary day-to-day. It will be usually around 10, but can be more or less depending on the amount of games being played.

Pretty good start. I could've used the couple overtimes in the Texas/TCU game in the Mercer/WCU game. I got caught biting at the 20 points in the Duke game; Pitt really sucks. Also, I fell for the "Sparty will bounce back" logic. In reality, Michigan State isn't that great, and Rutgers is actually pretty good this year.

Wow, this was an absolutely dreadful night. I genuinely apologize for publishing this card. I think what's most frustrating is that I had a few more picks lined up but wasn't willing to pull the trigger--and those turned out to be winners. Part of me wishes I expanded the list.

Those O/U's were razor thin. Could've won all five, but also could've lost all five. 2-2-1 seems appropriate.

Hopefully we will get it turned around tomorrow.

In my statistics, I will now include the "Good Vibes" statistic. Essentially, I compare my performance when someone says "Good Luck" prior to the slate of games, versus when there are no "Good Luck" comments. In the NBA, I hit over 65% when at least one person said "Good Luck," but hit a mere 40% when no one did. So far, the "Good Luck" theory is holding true on this thread too.

This was a better night than last night obviously. I felt good about the spread picks and had four more that I almost posted--and I won all four of those as well. Luckily I played on a couple of those. Also I'm happy I cashed in on the first ML pick of the year. I bet on the spread of that game as well, and got the W. So that's 9/9 spread picks if I include the ones I didn't post here. I'll take it!

I'm a little salty about the point total in the Nebraska/Penn State game (I would've had it if the game didn't go to OT). Oh well, that's the nature of O/U picks.

Thanks man, hopefully I can finish strong with Hawaii tonight--it'd push us to 60% through first 50 picks. The "Good Luck" theory always seems to work.

Always nice to follow up a solid 7-3 night with another good scorecard. Gotta make sure if I'm off in the next day or two that I can hopefully still get a .500 day out of it, and not go something like 2-8 or 3-7.
