Mistake: Sharks are 12-1 to win it all.

Saturday Play

* NSW Waratahs at home -5 over the Queensland Reds.
Love the value here. Reds won a few preseason matches, and it looks like the books are buying into them not being the perinnial losers they are. Meanwhile, Phil Waugh seems to be ageless and the 'tahs are imo Australia's best side - past and present. I'm looking for Berrick Barnes to have a breakout year for the NSW boys.

What a second half from the Hurricanes! Not a good start to the season -- 0-1.

Looks like the books are leaning toward the Cheetahs later today (line down to 9.5) at Loftus, but no way I'm going against the Bulls at home -- even without Bakkies. I think 10 is about right. Same goes for the 'Saders against hte Highlanders in Christchurch.

However, Willem Alberts is clear to play for my Sharks tomorrow! Honestly though, I'm not sure that he will make an instant impact like a lot of people think.

Line holds steady at a try....

Ah Hougaard out for the Bully boys! His replacement, John Maetsa, is unproven and reported to be, well, crap.

Still, I don't know that this will contribute heavily toward a Cheeters cover....

Sh*t!!! The Cheeters/Bulls match is in Bloemfontein, not Pretoria! Line at 9.5 with plus money on the Bulls. I'm staying away.

Bulls up on the Cheeters 23-14 at the half. Free State started full of piss and vinegar but seem to be getting ground down by the Bully Boys.

Wow! Bulls stampeding! Now 37-17 with 32 min left!

Lean toward the 'saders -12 next match, but not enough to put anything down...

Cheetahs gave it up in the end to go down 51-34. I think a lot of Cheeter bettors took it on the chin there. Like the 'saders -12 next game, so just a small action bet...

Bulls v Brumbies next week should be a cracker -- especially if Hoegaard is back in the lineup!

Amazing performance by the Queensland Reds! Crushed the Crusaders! Beating those boys helps everyone out, that's for sure!

Blues eeked one out but didn't look like a top-4 side at all. My Sharks are probably going to get tanked again! Impressed with the Cheetahs and really disappointed with the Sharks losing two straight at home. Rory Kockott had an awful game. This might be a loooong season for the banana boys...

Today's play: Chiefs (Hamilton, NZ) -8.5 over Lions (Joberg, SA). Match in Joberg. 2 units

Saturday's Play: Hurricanes (Wellingotn, NZ) -17.5 over Western Force (Perth, AU) LARGE - 5 units. Match in Wellington.
Wallabies (national team players/all stars) David Pocock, Cameron Shepherd, Richard Brown and Ryan Cross out for Force. Force are not a good team (to put it mildly) in the best day, and the Canes will destroy this replacement side.

Goddamnit to hell! Had the cover in hand and the old "game goes till the ball's dead" rule of rugby bited me in the ass!

That and their was NO defense played by either side.

Final 72-65 Chiefs.

Brumbies are looking amazing! Wallabies Rocky Elsom and Matt Giteau (from the Tahs and the Force respectively -- new to the Brumbies this season) are really making their presence felt -- especially Elsom.

Brumbies 15 - Bully Boys 5!

Not often the Blou is on the light side of the scale at Loftus!

Blou up 43-27. 6 minutes left and 2 scores needed to backdoor the Bulls' cover. Altitude, travel, and some mistakes catching up wit the Brumbies.

Bully boys or nothing at Loftus!

Thusfar, it looks as though the Bulls are once again the class of the SA teams. I am really disappointed in my Sharks after their opening efforts.

Everytime I start to doubt how powerful homefield is at elevation - I get reminded!

Tahs getting clouted in Cape Town. 27-6 with 14 minutes left.

Next week, the Lions start their australasian tour as do my Sharks! The Highlanders go to Bloemfontein to face the Cheeters...
