St. Louis has won the last three meetings against the Capitals including a 5-4 shootout back on November 17th. And despite losing their last two contests, 5-3 to Vegas and 8-5 to Minnesota, I believe they are a decent bet at a very good price to snap that streak tonight.
Washington has dropped three of its last five but came out on top in their last effort, a 5-4 shootout win over the Sabres. Yet success is not infectious with this Capitals’ iteration as they are 2-11 in their last 13 games following a victory. And while not all trends are indicative of what’s to come, the price on the Capitals is inflated due to them facing off against a subpar Blues squad.
And while St. Louis might not be the mettle of the league this season, neither are the Capitals, which makes this a solid value bet in my eyes. The Blues defeated the Caps once already this season and are facing an offense that is ranked just 19th in the league. That alone ought to give them a fighting chance so let’s grab the juice!
