I uninstalled my Spybot because for some reason it was comprimising my other Virus and Spyware software.I removed everything and it shows being gone when i go to the programs list. My problem is this, whenever i open a browser window or windows i get a box statingSpybot reports that you want to download Ave A Inc. This is a known threat.Doyou want to block this download. You can turn this off on the immunize page. Click yes or no. How could this still be coming up if Spybot is removed. I'm trying to get rid of this warning as it pops up everytime i open anything. Thanks for some help/:monsters-

Ave A is a real piece of shit. It sounds like you have a trojan.

Go to trend.com & run the free online scanner & see what it finds. Some of these trojans are an absolute bitch to remove, and I've had to clean up Ave A before, and the MF'er definitely falls in that category.

You could try reinstalling Spybot & letting it try, but I don't think it will remove the source of the problem(the trojan).

Installed Spybot again and it got rid of it.. I guess i shouldn't have listened to C/A about compromising software's. I think they all say that.:think2:

 Yeah, they all try that bullshit. More than anything they don't want another app interfering with theirs(and also want them to be the only thing you use).

I'm having problems with Spybot Search and Destroy Version 1.5.. It takes it 20minutes and 18 seconds to run a full scan.

For those that use it how long does it take to run a full scan?? Today 11/28/07; there are defination updates bring the total to over 106,000 that it searches for.

Mine only shows 106009 definations. Just updated this am. The older version ran the scan in around 8 minutes. It has sure slowed down. Don't like it as well now.

Quite possible that it's taking longer because it's doing a much better job. Just start it when you're walking away from your machine for a while.

TT, hopefully you are right. But this version has added an icon to the start menu with a little key (What the heck is a "whitelist" on that menu? When you right click on the icon it says: "use whitelist" Plus now it has a configuration wording under TOOLS at the top.
But--hard to argue with free!. I would have made a small donation where they mention that--but they want to use "Paypal". Never again for me with that company.

buddy, no one virus scanning software has a complete database of all viruses out there. The CA virus scanner may zap some viruses that Trend doesn't get and Trend may zap some that CA doesn't get. I like to scan with multiple virus scanners. The Trend one is free from their web site so that is one that I use.

So if the CA scan showed nothing it doesn't mean your system is clean.

for a full scan, not a quick scan, expect times in excess of 15 minutes.

Where is the option for a "quick scan" ?
This new version of Spybot finds a problem with just about all of Yahoo's Sports pages. Avenue A, etc...
