KM , 1st i have been bless with a dark skin 1st and very seldom have i ever got burn over the yrs.the only time was in hawaii,back in the day i would try to teach gals on the beach to try turning about 45 mins ect....if you are very white, try some good tanning bed lotions, about 80 to 100 dollars for the good stuff and start out with about 7 mins about 3 times a week and then go up as you get tan ect.talk to the tan booth manger and let her walk you through the process.
I use tanning beds before I hit Arizona each spring after five months sheltered from the Wisconsin winter. Start out at 7 minutes and increase it by two minutes each time every other day until I hit 15. Wear eye protecting goggles. When I get back, I go once a week for 15 minutes. Can't believe it's that bad. Now if you go every day for 15 minutes, believe you might look like a crocodile in a month. Seen some women with scales. Think it's like being out in the sun. If you are smart about it, it won't hurt you.
