The US gov't gives more money away a day than you guys have raised in 30 years of funding. If anyone wanted to really beat it, it would have been done by now.

Folks, save your money.

Reminds me of a colleague I know. He makes about 300K a year mostly due to people having ALS.

He does all of this " walk to defeat ALS" and various other fundraisers in the name of ALS

I am sort of outspoken and say what I think many times.

I asked him if he really wanted to beat it? Because you know that means your income drastically decreases. Really, do you seriously want to beat something that is making you a very nice income. 300K where I live is very very good $$.

There have been huge advances in treatments the last 5 years - many cancers are treatable

Look at it like this - we could redirect all the research funds to food stamps programs and free housing - sound good?

A few years some charity knocked on my door (I think it was UNICEF) and I donated and let them take $25 per month on a credit card - after about 6 months I read somewhere that the President of the charity was paying himself a million dollar salary - turned that card off immediately
