HELSINKI, July 19 (Reuters) - The former coach of Finnish top-division club Allianssi says he was offered money to fix a match two years ago, adding a new twist to a betting scandal in the country.

Ari Tiittanen, who was fired by last season's runners-up in June, refused the offer reportedly made by a man "speaking English with an accent".

"I was contacted (two years ago) and asked if I could arrange the final result of my team's game. The compensation would have been significant, but I said no way," Tiittanen was quoted as saying by top commercial Finnish broadcaster MTV3.

</NOSCRIPT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>Finnish football was plunged into crisis earlier this month after champions Haka Valkeakoski beat Allianssi 8-0 on July 7 in a match which attracted far heavier betting than usual.

Allianssi, who have just been bought by a Chinese businessman, fielded nine players who were making their debuts under new Belgian coach Thierry Pister.

"I have never seen anything like it," Jan Walden, the chief executive of the Finnish League said of the match.
"It could have ended 20-0 ... The main thing in football is to try one's best. Allianssi didn't. We haven't had such a crisis in Finnish football before."

Bookmakers Veikkaus paid out its highest ever return on a soccer match while internet-based NordicBet said the firm received 50 percent more bets than usual, with most people betting Haka would win by more than two goals.

"Bookmakers Veikkaus paid out its highest ever return on a soccer match while "

That text really tells how much an average journalist knows about betting. Veikkaus paid out their highest odds ever on SOCCER CORRECT SCORE BETTING. Correct score odds are based on pool betting in Finland. Veikkaus takes 30% of turnover and pays out 70% of turnover to winners. In this case only ONE (1) EURO was placed on result 8-0 and lucky winner had odd 8 786,89 and whole turnover was 12 552,70 Euros. This correct score had nothing to do with match fixing.

I'll try to translate some things around this case, sorry about wrong prepositions. We don't have any in Finnish language, so I don't know when it should be on and when in.

Allianssi's new owners (Suray and Ye) tried to buy Belgian team, Geel, earlier this year. Geel plays in second highest level. This Chinese guy Ye promised to give 1 million to this small team and talked about teams great future in Europe. Geel rejected the contract before team received any payments. This is what Geel's coach Peter Maes told to Finnish newspaper:

"I thought Ye didn't understand anything about soccer. He wanted to be a boss in everything. He wanted that Gell would have won 1,2 or 3 nil all matches, and that's not possible.
Final episode happened before last crusial promotion match. Ye wanted that Geel would have played that match with 10 players. I didn't understood that decision at all. Ye told that only 10 players had contract for next season and he wanted to play with them.
After that I told Geel's administrations now it's enough, I walked out and threaten to sign off. After that co-operation with Ye ended and contract documents demolished"

Football federation of Belgium has contacted their Finnish counterparts about this case. In Belgium federation is investigating Geel–Waasland match, which was played 16th of May 2005. One Waasland player accused that La Paca (Player who is now with Allianssi) called to him and tried to fix match. One interesting side note is that all 6 new players which came to allianssi with new owners had played in same team, RAEC Mons, couple years earlier. Olivier Suray (new owner) was their player laso. Allianssi's new coach was RAEC Mons coach during 1998-2002. Hmmm.

Funny thing is that after fixing speculations started one Belgian player, Cheblaki, told in Belgian media that the reason for these accusations against new Belgian players was that Finnish are rasist.

Whatever may be true or untrue I do not know, but the price moves that I see on the Finnish matches these days make me go hmmmmm.
Today's Mypa-Rops was a good example.
For my analyses that whole league is fvcked.
I always considered the Scandinavians straight, but I seem very wrong.

I saw that HUGE line move on the MyPa-RoPs match and decided to stay away in the end. Olympic actually took it off the board about 2 hours before game-time and didn't put it back, unlike Pinnacle, who had it up, took it down, and then put the game back up with a huge adjustment.
