Here's my plays for March Madness Thursday, come on over to www.whalewager.com and post yours!!! :thumbsup2:
All plays are 3 units (based on 1 unit to 5 unit scale)
Marquette -2 1/2.. Golden Eagles have played the much tougher schedule and seem more "tourney ready'. Bama had really high hopes til Davis got hurt in January, but have limped along since. Marquette has grown accustomed to being overmatched on the inside, but make up for it with their 3 point shooting and hard nosed defense. MARQUETTE by 7.
Iona +7 1/2... classic matchup of guard play vs. a talented big man or twoLove getting 7 1/2 with a team that averages 80 points a game. If LSU gets into and up and down pace here, they get beat outright. Iona is very talented for a smaller school and has confidence in knowing they always seem to play the big schools tough. Iona by 2.
Gonzaga -5 1/2.. Zags come into this one with many grumbling about how they've struggled in conference, and they'll need a bigger effort than they've shown of late. They'll respond. Xavier is fortunate to even have made it to the Big Dance, and don't have the firepower to stay close to the superior club. Zags by 13.
Utah State +6 1/2 .. Utah State is like Iona in the fact that they've got some nice talent considering they're not one of the "big boys' and shoot the ball very well. Washington may try to force the tempo, but it won't be easy with this bunch. Every year, you seem to see a new coach "emerge", this could be Stew Morrill's turn to be last-years Bruce Pearl. Other than UCLA, wasn't real impressed with the Pac-10 this yr. Utah State by 2.
Syracuse -1... Yeah, I know this line SCREAMS trap, considering how much hype has surrounded Syracuse during and since their run in the Big East Tourny and the fact that the public loves them, but the line is going the Agggies way. Orangemen still have one left in the tank, especially against an A&M club that benefited from a joke of a non conference schedule. Their saving grace was a win over Texas and the fact that they played them tough last week. Syracuse by 5.
