Hello, just joined the forum, BEST OF LUCK to all!

I want to start with my opinion and advice on mexican soccer play-off, specially the first game between Santos- Laguna vs Monarcas Morelia.

THE PLAY ---> I chose this play because of the current money line: BACK MORELIA NOT TO LOSE.

That means that you bet on Morelia (as visiting team) to win and also you place a second bet on the tie. If you look at the prices, the average are something like this: MORELIA +190 and the tie is +210

So on that prices you must bet almost equal amounts to win 50% of your bet, a little bit more to morelia as it pays a little less (you only lose if Santos wins). here is a dutch calc if the line moves or if you want to do an exact calc:
http://www.oddschecker.com/betting-tools/dutching-calculator.html

You can also back Morelia not to lose if your bookie offers a bet called commonly "special 1 2". if not place the two bets as adviced.

For me, there is a lot of value on Morelia not to lose at -200

----------------WHY-----------------------------------

When this tie-in was formed, I remember thinking how hard it was going to be for Santos to handle a team like Morelia even at home.

Comparing these two teams, you have Morelia, with Head Coach Tomas Boy, ex player and mexico's international, as a franchise that has seriously cared for their football and for having a top class team in Mexico. The results are a solid and worked team that knows what it is doing on the field and whose players understand their goals perfectly. Coach Tomas Boy knows this, and if you have been following his teams for the last 10 years you are aware that he is very demanding with his players and the only goal in his mind is to have the best Morelia he can. I doubt that he will want to give away a defeat at Torreon, specially when the whole team speaks of winning the whole championship. Morelia finished 2nd on the general table only behind Toluca (who is losing a little game level) and looked solid and consistent the whole regular season. I am confident Morelia is the best or at least second best team in Mexico. And no injuries!

On the other hand Santos is a team that, altough having some talented players, know that their best moments came like 3 seasons ago. Actual coach Sergio Bueno has not been that good or succesful, I've always seen average or below average seasons. It seems to me he is the kind of coach that is satisfied with some good or decent efforts and doesn't have the hunger to build a top class team that wants to win and wants to win championships. Additionaly, I think also that Boy is a better coach than Bueno.

Other issues on Santos are lack of discipline, players that want to appear in magazines rather than focus and win, some loss in confidence, it is a team that has lost power mainly because of a coach switch (to the actual one Bueno who hasn't managed the players very well). Their most talented player, argentine Ludueña is already thinking in leaving the club.

If this is not enough, check Santos last 5 games: not a single win even against waaay weaker opps.

-In a word: My guess is that Santos is lossing game level for a while already and won't be able to handle a team so chiseled as Morelia. My guess is that Morelia will own the ball and impose his rules, so Santos will have a very hard scenario if they want to win the game. very hard for them to win the game.

BACK MORELIA NOT TO LOSE (1 BET TO MORELIA-WIN AND 1 MORE TO THE TIE, ADJUST ACCORDINGLY) LOOK FOR 50 % RETURN

----- DON'T BET MORE THAN YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE-----

Thank you Hache man.

A last tought on that first pick for anyone who is considering: if your bookie offers handicap on the game on morelia, take morelia +1 of course, it has the same effect than the two bets adviced on the first post.

cheers

True, sorry bout that Wayne and varkerboy. Did you watched the game? referee Arredondo forgived Santos two penalty kicks and the only decision against santos came when he sent off vuoso for insulting him. Santos indeed had a merit winning that game with 10 men, it was a shame Morelia lost the game with 11. Also on injury time there was a header to the post. They missed some chances to score the second. Had the feeling Morelia could draw the game, coach must be angry. hhehe

Alright I expect to make up for that one, let's see how next week comes.

plays for the weekend

Hello, all! Hope you had a happy thanksgiving and best of luck!

As you know the first pick of this thread LOST :ohno: I'll post a writeup later for this game, learned some valuable things, could be helpful for those who handicap soccer. But let's carry on and try to get some winners!

This are the plays I like for the weekend:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sevilla @ 1.28 vs Malaga (Sat 28 Nov)

Well my opinion is this must be a winner and of all the chalks, Sevilla has pretty decent odds at 1.28. Malaga is one of the worst in the league and Sevilla the third-fourth best. Also people in Sevilla know that they are currently 3rd and this gives them a straight ticket to the next Champions League. The situation here is that Valencia is 4th with only one point behind and wants to climb 3rd to have a pass to Champions League, because at 4th they will have to play qualifiers. So Playing such a weak opp and with valencia only 1 point behind they shall make a good effort to win this game. I also liked Sevilla -1 but I can see the 11 Malaga's players hanging on the post even if losing. Don't give many units to this play if you like it, the price is not that great either.

Deportivo La coruña +1 @ 1.45 vs Racing Santander (Sun 29 Nov)

Check the stats for this one, Racing has never won at home and with this bet it's all it has to do again: lose or draw. Depor is fifth in the league with a place at Europa league, but of course we all know which european league they want to play, so as I said that Valencia is chasing Sevilla, Depor is chasing Valencia to try to qualify to Champions League. My opinion is Depor not to lose, let's hope they don't play like they did against Valladolid.

Auxerre +1 @ 1.70 vs PSG (Sat 28 Nov)

Another no-lose play on Auxerre. Auxerre is #1 in France right now and has a winning streak of 7 I think. this money line is too high for me if there is something I am missing about this match please let me know. PSG is not that good playing home, actually this season has been mediocre for such a classy club. PSG lost his last home match to Nice (9th) and let's hope they don't win this one so our Auxerre +1 cashes in!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Another lean is Lorient @ 1.50 vs Grenoble, Lorient must beat Grenoble at home but I will pass here as Grenoble has shown that, altough being a lousy team, thay can defend draws against top french clubs.

:smoking::smoking::smoking:

hehehe alright go easy on those plays if you like one I hope some nice winners come, Best of luck!!

Yeaah it's incredible how sissies soccer players can be sometimes. What bothers me more is that Sevilla couldn't win the game and the line was so low. I have to be more careful when betting against teams in the relegation zone... they kick, foul, bite... whatever they can do to get some points.
