This morning I have heard that Bolton may not field a full strength squad for tonight's match against Birmingham since Bolton must travel to Portugal on Thursday for a UEFA Cup match against Guimarães. Also, Bolton's Manager, Sam Allardyce, has stated that a draw at Birmingham is an acceptable result in this situation.

Allardyce and Bruce (Birmingham's Manager) are the best of friends and it is thought by some that Bolton will play for a draw so as not to further embarass Bruce. Birmingham have not won a home game this season and jobs are on the line. Heads may roll if Birmingham lose today and it is thought that Allardyce does not want to be responsible for his friend losing his job. I am not saying that this is fact but the impending UEFA Cup match gives Allardyce the perfect excuse for naming a weaker side than normal for Bolton.
