played like a beast, 11 tackles, 9 solo. Proud of him...I was a single dad with him for about 3 years, he has turned out to be a fine young man and will be successful in life.

Is his ultimate goal to be a placekick holder like Pavian?

Addiction is a horrible thing.

Glad to hear your son turned things around and is doing well, wabash.
He apparently takes after his Dad as I also had an addiction(cocaine) when I was younger but also fought thru it and made a good life for myself and family.

Proud of him, yes. He is driven, works extremely hard (harder than I ever did), is focused, well mannered, getting all A's and B's in his Senior year (finally!), has been recruited by several schools (Southern Miss probably the biggest name), has an amazing GF who is going to Bama on a full ride in pre-med and no matter what path his life takes him, he will be successful.

When he was 2 mom and I split. She moved a year later to California to chase her new cock. Went to court, 10k later I win custody of my son. Single dad, making peanuts, living in a $250 a month rent apartment..never lost sight of my goals, as well as raising a good kid. He has some issues within him, mainly probably feeling abandoned by mom. He has a great step mom now, but like most step families they have been at odds before. I don't know who it's tougher on..the child or the parent.

Anyways, when I see shit in here about how HARD things are for some people..or how they don't get the same chances..or whatever..it's all BULLSHIT. There is no accountability anymore for anything. People lie till caught...starts at the top down. Just look at our elected officials.

Also a congrats to all the other fathers on here who have shared their own experiences. Being a good parent is extremely tough...if you wonder why some communities and families are as fucked up as they are it all starts with the family unit. I won't make this political, but being a conservative Christian give me the moral compass and a bastion of safety so to speak, to always know the correct way to do things. That is lost in our society..people laugh about "religious nutjobs", especially during election years, but I teach my family this way. Not a bible thumper by any means, but a core set of values and principles always rise to the top.

We all have our own personalities in here, but I think there are many good people in here. Vit, Guesser, we disagree, but I don't doubt your character. Willie, Joe, Zit, Mantiss, JW, etc. etc..all solid people. Call some of them crazy or whatever, but they are true to their beliefs.

Good luck today, here's my post in the NCAA FB forum for a bit of a read...

What difference would it make if they did post things about their families or lives? You would still be disrespectful and treat them like shit. Or flat out just not believe what they say. I've posted about my life and family On here and you treat me like shit. I don't have a college education but still managed to work for 3 world class companies in my lifetime(Coca-cola, Pfizer and presently DuPont). Ive posted a thread in main forum about my sons alcohol problems and how he fought it.(he hasn't had a drink in almost 4 years now). He got into MMA fighting and even climbed into the cage and won a fight. He recently got a job as a manager in a music store in Champaign Ill and is putting his life together.

But why would that matter to you, since all you care about is the people in "your world", which I'm glad to say I'm not a part of.

you'd love to be part of my world, everybody does

and I know what struggles are, for me and for my clients, maybe you're not paying attention

I remember the story about your kid, I think it's a great story and I'm pretty sure I said such when you told it

my best friend is a high school drop out, my 2nd best friend is a college drop out, I don't look down at anyone except lying losing scum, and there are plenty of them to be found around here

Sorry about that, Gas...I had no idea. But when this broad came up to me in a bar and kept telling me about her husband who was a former NCAA hockey player who posted on this forum called the RX all the time and couldn't really cut the mustard between the sheets...well, she caught me in a moment of weakness.

:)

You make an interesting point about moral compasses. That's what I think is missing in society today. How the hell can anyone make life-impacting decisions without some kind of guiding principles or foundation? We have the United States, still the greatest population experiment in all of mankind IMO, which allows individuals the freedom to choose their own path. It pisses me off when our very own shitheads spit on those freedoms, but it comes from ignorance because they've never known anything else in their coddled lives. So many people around the world don't have that same chance...and yet one of the major political forces in our country is trying to morph the U.S. into the type of country people escape from to come here. Let that sink in for a bit.

Anyway, if there's an RX bash in Vegas next summer...you better be there, mother fucker!

I'll stick to my world where I treat everyone equally and don't go around calling groups of people "scum" just because you dislike a few in that group. And yes, I will admit you did make a kind response concerning my son when I posted the story about him. I'll give you credit for that.

Well he takes vacations in the family truckster.

That has to count for something. No?

How many non responses must you get on this joke before you stop.

Again, texansfan disagrees with me on everything and he talks about his enjoyment on road trips with the kids.

The problem is you're not a family person.....you found out your dad died from the newspaper and your daughter is as far away as she can get. That's why someone like you doesn't understand it.

This is a GREAT post. Wabash, you as well. This is Gasman on the real guys. He doesn't want to fight anybody in here or KO them etc. He has a certain set of beliefs he lives by. Some of you guys will hit him back personally for stating those principles when he's only clowning you in most of his remarks.

I know there are ongoing personal battles in here. But I think it would be a great idea if in each thread the posters who respond would follow the tone and intent of the OP. Also, if one poster takes a shot at another poster I think it's a bad idea for a third poster to quote it and reaffirm it.

IMO that's how to keep the thermostat down in here.

There has to come a point since we have a core group of posters where we finally learn how to talk to one another. You don't need to crush a person's skull to win a disagreement.

Congrats on getting through tough times to Gasman, Wabash and all who had difficult life events and overcame the obstacles.

do I call you scum?

I call scum scum, because he was, because he ran around the forum trying to convince everybody I was racist, and did so for an extended period of time.

I'm glad you choose your world, wouldn't want it any other way. That's how it should be, comfortable in our own skin.

this, OR

you can come in here and not expect reasonable conversation (based on experience), so you just flame the fire

I choose the later, since reasonable conversation hasn't been here for years

there was a time I opposed the closing of this sub-forum, now I couldn't care less if it were to be closed.

Although you're one of the good guys Scott, and I'm going to look up you and your restaurant next time I'm in Philadelphia.

Pats go there in 4 years :). Maybe a Temple hoops game should the Owls become good again. Went to watch many Nova games over the years, and a couple of Dances too (Philly been good to us, we always advance)
