The European Union is considering a ban on smoky bacon flavouring amid concerns that it may increase the risk of developing cancer.

Studies have found an increased risk of certain cancers in countries where there is a high consumption of smoked foods.

They probaly fed some poor luckless rat nothing except smokey bacon crisps for three years and the poor bugger got cancer.
Therefore proving conclusively that Smokey Bacon crisps can give you cancer.

Reminiscent of the ban on cyclamates, the data for which tests later turned out to be obscenely skewed. In order for a human to ingest the level of the chemicals that gave the rats cancer, they would have to drink 750 -- seven hundred and fifty -- 12oz diet sodas within a 24 hours period, every 24 hour period, for a sustained period.

Never mind that this would cause massive bladder failure, or diabetic shock if you tried to ingest that much in sugar, etc.

Silly FDA. If you want an important job done badly, turn it over to the government.
