"Value" is a hendicapping shibboleth, overused, but I'll use it anyway. It's how I approach betting the game, 'cause ya can't hit on the faves. Not with this game so rife with illicit dope and joints. (Latter are buzzers, much more common than the average fan thinks. Especially during morning works, even at major plants, you see them all over the infield, no attempt even to hide 'em.)

It helps when going for "value" to be a sheet or two to the wind, which I am now. Many times you draw a big blank, and end caressing the lint in your pocket. But other times it's like, well, 19th century America, when the streets were Lined with Gold. Remember? . . .

Belmont 5th: Johns Joy - Probably the second choice, but had crappy break last out.

Belmont 8th: Kennel Up - What a dog! Loses, moves up to Gr III, and goes longer after losing ground in stretch. But this is "value," - get it?

Delaware 9th: Certainly Can - hey, a 5 yr old maiden in a cheap claimer, but new trainer is Scott Lake, and some say he's an expert pharmacist. . .

Hollywood 6th: Sparklin Forest - First time starter, nice work tab, Baffert. probably end up in the freakin' trees.

Hollwood 8th: Honeypenny - Old mare whose last win was in October, and for no obvious reason today leaps into Stakes race. Is this Value, or a leap into insanity.

'Night all. I'm layin low till foots or Breeders Cup, gotta keep my newbie status
