Jets to stick with Zach Wilson at QB 'no matter what'
New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Monday that the team will stick with Zach Wilson at quarterback for the remainder of the season, "no matter what happens," The Athletic's Connor Hughes reports.
What It Means:
Wilson made some brutal mental errors in the Jets' Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots, but Saleh said the team gave "zero thought" to benching the second-year quarterback during the game. The Jets will continue to give Wilson a chance to grow and develop in the NFL this season for as long as Wilson stays healthy.
Wilson set career-highs in attempts (41) and passing yards (355) in Week 8 and also threw for 2 touchdowns, but most of his numbers came after the Jets were already down multiple scores. He also threw 3 interceptions and took 2 sacks for 19 yards while completing under 50% of those 41 attempts.
