What a complete failure this approach was. It's purpose was not to inflict massive destruction on a city and kill thousands of people. It's purpose was to show off our muscles and convince the hardcore Iraqi's to quit. As you can see Saddam's regime is stepping up and fighting for themselves. If this thing does not give soon it is going to get ugly to the point where we have to resort to leveling the entire country. Destroying the cities like World War II all for an unprovoked war that Jr's daddy made him do. I just hope alot of American troops don't get hurt on the path this war seems to be heading.

at some point,it`s gonna dawn on george that,unfortunately,you have to kill,disorient,displace,traumatize and dishearten the people of a country to win a war and establish regime change....hopefully,not to many american and british soldiers will die before he realizes this....don`t send them into baghdad to fight soldiers dressed in civies, hiding behind women and children....you have to displace the people....you have to use heavy artillery to get them out of the city so you can go in and get the soldiers without putting your own in jeopardy......house to house fighting isn`t gonna work...it is doomed to failure....

I kind of expected what the governemnt told me to expect - "Shock and Awe" will shock and awe the Republic Army into surrendering. Let's get real, to this point that strategy has been a total failure.
6 months? If this war goes on for 6 months Bush needs to be impeached. US troops under fire for 6 months for an unprovoked war? I was expecting a quick war - like a month tops. 6 months would approach Vietnam.
I am not for or against this war. I know the war is wrong but Hussein deserves what he gets. If this thing goes on for more than a month then I would be strongly opposed to it.

Seymour: with all due respect, the coalition decided on this strategy with an aim at both obliterating a lot of targets quickly and in the hope of allowing the 'regular' Iraqi soldiers, who don't support Saddam but who were forced in, to surrender in an attempt to spare their lives, not just force a quick end to the war.
What is wrong with that? You are somehow upset that they tried to show compassion, and when it didn't work because by all reports Saddam had infiltrated the army with people loyal to him in order to keep them from surrendering, you dismiss the attempt out of hand. Ignoring the effects of the military strikes to boot.
It's so easy to be a back-seat QB sometimes, even for me, but I'm not going to second-guess the experts 7 freaking days into the war. I am not a strategical or tactical expert, and I don't think you are either.
