I just read this thread today and as i was reading i was going to comment on this one. I am a Nebraska student and jumped on it when i saw it at +3. Much like what was said before Suh is a player and Potter is really peaking as well. Nebraska's secondary sucks but Bo Peleni really has them cranking and I think that they can take care of the run.
Also, I'm not sure how much you consider this fact but you know Nebraska fans are ape sh*t crazy over husker football and they always travel very very well. I however will be watching the game in chicago because i am going there for the new year but Best of Luck to both of us!
you made the right play imo
As much as I hate betting against my Mountaineers, UNC may wind up being my biggest play of bowl season. UNC is a solid, well-balanced team on both sides of the ball and WVU simply plays without a pulse. Pat White, Noel Devine, and Jock Sanders can all have an exciting play or two but we're dismal when it comes to the RZ and goal line. We have no power running attack like we did in previous seasons with Slaton & Schmitt (not say Slaton was a power back, but he was more stout than Devine or Jock). If UNC can make us one dimensional, which many D's can do, I have no doubt Butch Davis can run us right off the field.
WVU should get some public action because of our past success in the last big bowl games we've played in but we were under the helm of Rodriguez. Right now, we're attempting to institute the Wake Forest offense (our O coordinator) and we simply don't have the athletes to run such a dominant running attack. We're much quicker than we are stout. We have ZERO rushing ability up the middle and our O-Line is not quick enough for all the pull blocking we attempt to do. Nearly every 20+ yard run by White or Devine is down on their own and looks like a youtube highlight. UNC will also grind down our soft as shit defense.
UNC - 24
WVU - 13
Appreciate all your observations Seanm and if I was to do a write up it would be along the lines to this one. My only true concern as I stated in my brief write up is UNC's lack of a great running game. I faded WVU against physical running teams (Ville/Pitt) and while UNC doesn't pose a running game comparable to those two I think their passing game gives them a balance which should give WVU trouble. At the end of the day WVU defense should wear down first and not the other way around. Thanks again and good luck
Live in Lincoln, NE and follow Nebraska pretty close. Talked to a guy that used to book and has done very, very well this season on his own...says he thinks Clemson is the play in that game. Big Nebraska fan too, btw.
Just a heads-up as I really respect this guy's opinion. Like your plays though. GL.
thanks for the winners all year long, your money management is as good as your handicapping.. keep up the great work.
