Before noon on Friday, police were gathering outside the address of the shooter's mother Delphene in Mesquite, Texas.
One of the injured police officers has been named as Misty McBride. She was reportedly shot in the shoulder but will survive.

Brent Thompson
Brent Thompson, 43, was a Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer who had gotten married two weeks prior to the shooting, according to a DART representative.
He is the first DART officer to be killed in the line of duty since the department was established in 1989. He joined the department in 2009.
DART released a statement about his death:
"As you can imagine, our hearts are broken. This is something that touches every part of our organization. We have received countless expressions of support and sympathy from around the world through the evening. We are grateful for every message. Thank you."
Patrick Zamarripa
The family of Dallas police officer Patrick Zamarripa, 32, confirmed he was one of the officers killed.
The Washington Post reported that Zamarripa served three tours of duty in Iraq while in the Navy. He was married and had a 2-year-old daughter.
His father, Rick Zamarripa, posted the news to Facebook and later shared a post from a cousin that included a picture of Zamarripa and his daughter. Zamarippa's stepbrother also tweeted a picture.

The paper said he had served the Dallas Police Department for 14 years.

An ambush is when you wait in a spot for your target to come into your trap. Others have been called massacres, (like when you randomly kill anyone) which is worse IMO. Do we really have to be sensitive to what we call things like this?

There's not one party solely responsible. It is all parties involved contributing to these recurrences. The media fuels this shit because they think it's what the people want to see. The cops are getting scared now so in return they are going to be even MORE nervous and quick triggers with black people in those situations. I don't care what color the sniper was blue green black white or orange to do what he did he was one crazy nut who had to be sick in the head. My wife is a mental health therapist and she comes home everyday telling me what type of patients she saw that have no business walking the streets. They are not mentally sound and could go off at any moment. Very scary
