"State and local police said the attack occurred late Sunday at the "Las Virginias" bar in a low-income section relatively far from the beachside tourist zone."

I just got back from a 6 day trip to Mexico City. We stayed in Polanco which is an extremely safe part of the country. You just have to know where you are and stay out of bad areas. I work in Miami. I know to stay out of Liberty City (or Miami Gardens).
I feel like EVERYWHERE is getting worse. Just world in general. It's hard to go out in many big US cities and not come across pan handlers and homeless people everywhere. You feel like you have to watch your back more than ever. Go to a bar a night and risk getting robbed or in a fight.
