4 Unit Play. Take the Texas Rangers -125 over the Cleveland Indians (Wednesday @ 7:05pm est). The Rangers were blanked 0-5 yesterday and I cannot imagine them being blanked once again today. Remember, the Rangers are in a heated division race and each game is crucial. They come off a game where this proud and high potent offense failed to score a run. Hunter is one of the better young arms in the league and he is 4-2 with a 2.62 era thus far. The young man has a great fast ball and changeup and I look for him to be affective once again today. More importantly, I look for the Rangers offense to bounce-back successfully. Carmona comes off a great start and helped the Indians defeat the Twins but I look for him to have a bit of a let down today. Although he has been showing signs of improvement, this has just not been Carmona's year as he has produced a 6.66 era and I look for him to have trouble against the Rangers this evening.

Good luck,
Indian Cowboy

'OVER' #973/974 Texas Rangers (Hunter) at Cleveland Indians (Carmona) 7:05 PM ET

Texas has been a great 'under' team this season but not when playing the Indians. Despite being shutout last night the Rangers have scored 29 runs in four games against Cleveland and the season trends should be bucked for the Rangers tonight with a high-scoring game. Texas posted six runs against Fausto Carmona earlier this season and the 'over' is 8-2-1 the last eleven games these teams have played. Carmona is coming off a decent outing but he has allowed four or more runs in six of his last nine starts. His season ERA is an ominous 6.66 and he has a terrible strikeout-to-walk ratio of 0.81. Tommy Hunter is a promising young pitcher for the Rangers but he has allowed eight runs in his last two starts with both games playing 'over'. Hunter will face a Cleveland lineup that is batting .294 in the last ten games and the Indians have scored five or more runs in five of the last six games. Cleveland has played great ball since losing several key players and this is a lineup that still has plenty of power. Both teams have had marginal relief pitching including bullpen ERAs over 4.00 for the past ten games and this should be a higher scoring affair.

Wednesday's play 15 Dime -- Rangers (Hunter) over INDIANS (Carmona)

RANGERS
NOTE: List only Hunter as Texas' starting pitcher

Didn't I tell you the Rangers were due for a big letdown Tuesday after taking two of three from the Angels? Well after a one-game hangover, Texas should get back to business today.

Yes, I know the Indians are 12-5 in their last 17 games. I also know that Cleveland starter Fausto Carmona (2-6, 6.66 ERA) has a 2.45 ERA in two outings since being recalled from the minors.

But there's some other numbers that stand out even more to me. First, Carmona has won just once in his last 11 starts, and the right-hander is 0-3 with an 8.59 ERA lifetime in three home outings vs. Texas.

Carmona also is 0-3 with a 5.05 ERA in seven home starts overall this year.

Rangers rookie Tommy Hunter (4-2, 2.63) continues to impress. The 23-year-old right-hander has allowed three runs or fewer in seven of his eight outings. He gave up two runs and three hits in seven innings Thursday at Oakland.

In two road starts, Hunter is 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA, allowing three runs (two earned) and seven hits in 13 innings.

Hunter, who has never faced Cleveland, is especially good when being threatened, as opposing batters are hitting .146 against him with runners in scoring position. Opponents are batting .223 overall against him.

I expect Hunter to turn in another fine outing today while Texas' offense gets busy against Carmona. Take the Rangers in this one.

Oakland Athletics
vs. Baltimore Orioles

Baltimore rookie right-hander Jason Berken takes the mound for the birds today. Berken has struggled this season but is coming off a solid winning performance on Friday that certainly boosted his confidence. Baltimore should have no problem taking this one from Oakland rookie Mazzaro who has a 5.70 era. Look for Baltimore to win this one today and take the series win against Oakland.

PLAY: Baltimore Orioles / -130 / 4 Units

Chicago White Sox
vs. Seattle Mariners

Mark Buehrle has not pitched well since throwing the 18th perfect game in MLB history but that will change tonight as he takes the mound against the Mariners. Buehrle has pitched well against the Mariners, going 7-3 with a 4.11 ERA in 13 starts. The White Sox beat the Mariners on Tuesday and Buehrle will regain his all star form tonight as the White Sox (58-56) take two of three in this series with a win tonight.

PLAY: Chicago White Sox / +130 / 3 Units

Washington Nationals
vs. Atlanta Braves

Atlanta is playing very well as of late, winning 4 straight and 6 out of their last 7 games with their only loss courtesy of a walk-off homer. Lowe (11-7, 4.15 ERA) gets the start tonight for the Braves. He is 4-0 with a 2.97 ERA in his last six starts, five of them resulting in wins. Atlanta has outscored opponents 46-18 with a .300 batting average and eight homers over the last seven games. The Nationals send Craig Stammen to the mound tonight. The rookie Stammen, who is coming off his shortest start of the season, was pulled with 2 outs in the second after giving up 6 runs and six hits.

PLAY: Atlanta Braves / -1.5 (-110) / 5 Units

Mexico vs. USA
Two traditionally deffensive teams square off in one of the hardest places to score goals, Estadio Azteca (1500 ft higher altitude than Denver). Goals will be at a premium, and with Mexico desperately needing this win, expect them to score early and back up to defend.

PLAY: Under 2 1/2 Goals / -115 / 3 Units
