5 Dime - Colorado

The Rockies, fresh off an 11-1 pounding of the Angels in Anaheim last night, have won 17 of their last 18 games, including nine in a row on the road, improving to 19-5 since Jim Tracy took over as manager. They?ve outscored their foes 118-61 during their 17-1 run.

Tonight they send Ubaldo Jimenez to the mound. While winning his last three starts, the righthander has compiled a 2.66 ERA while holding his opponents to a combined .207 batting average. Although just 6-6 in 14 starts this season, Jimenez, despite pitching at hitter-friendly Coors Field, has a more than respectable 3.73 overall ERA on the year.

The Angels have followed a seven-game winning streak with a three-game losing skid, losing the final two games of their weekend series to the Dodgers by scores of 6-4 and 5-3, before getting routed last night, 11-1. Tonight they're starting rookie Sean O?Sullivan, filling in for Ervin Santana. The righthander was impressive against the Giants last Tuesday, winning his first major league start, holding San Francisco to one run on five hits in seven innings. But, keep in mind the Giants are one of the weakest hitting teams in the major leagues while Colorado is on an offensive tear, averaging 6.9 runs per game during its 17-1 run.

Considering their recent success, the Rockies are considerably underpriced in this spot; I would have expected them to be a -145 favorite at minimum.

Bob Valentino Tuesday's 25 Dime MLB winner ... 25 DIME -- ATLANTA BRAVES (over New York Yankees) ... When making your wager, specify pitchers in this game -- Hanson for Atlanta and Wang for New York. Both must start this contest or there is no action.

NOTE: As always, be sure to shop around and get the best of the number! Never lay more on a favorite than you have to or take back less than you can on an underdog!

San Francisco Giants (37-32) at Oakland Athletics (31-38)
(R) Tim Lincecum (6-2) vs. (R) Vin Mazzaro (2-1)

San Francisco dropped last night’s game, 5-1 versus the A's, but has won five of the last 6 contests against Oakland.

Giants’ right-hander Tim Lincecum (6-2, 2.72 ERA) is 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA in three career starts against the Athletics. Oakland’s rookie Vin Mazzaro (2-1, 1.75) is 0-1 in his career against Tim Lincecum and the Giants.

Go with the Giants tonight to get back to winning ways with their ace Tim Lincecum on the hill.

WNBA: San Antonio -3

WNBA: Over 155.5 NY/Minnesota

MLB: Under 9 Boston/Washington

4 Unit Play. Take Under 9 between the Boston Redsox @ Washington Nationals (Tue @ 7pm est). We have hit the Under several times with Brad Penny (up to 4 times I think) and today is no different. He has really improved in his pitching and has steadily brought his era down to 4.94 and his record to 6-2. Heck, Penny has yet to give up a run in 11 innings and the Redsox have to like the fact he has improved from a very shaky start to start the year. Tack that on with the fact I am a fan of John Lanna, a Sienna grad who somehow has 4 wins with a Nats team who has a terrible record and has a 3.38 era. Lannan has given up just 3 runs in his last 23 innings and is 2-0-1 in those 3 starts as he has looked very sharp. I like for both pitchers to pitch well today as this is likely to be a pitchers duel. Something else that I point out usually in the Nats games is that over 73% are of course on the Redsox (or any team facing the Nats with relatively low juice for that matter) and the pubilc has gotten burned 4 of the last 5 games. Vegas knows its stuff and with a low juice once again, it makes me think this will be a competitive pitcher's duel similar to the other recent under(s) we have taken on the Nats because of what the lines indicate. The Under is 4-0 for Penny when the total is set at this mark, 10-1 when the Nats are at home with this total and the Under is 13-3 in Lannan's last 16 starts overall.

4 Unit Play. #654. Take the San Antonio Silver Stars -3 over the Phoenix Mercury (Tuesday @ 7:30pm est). I'm a big revenge bettor across all sports and it is no different in the WNBA. Time and time again this season, the WNBA teams have gotten revenge against other teams they just lost too and this includes the Sparks who beat the Shock only to get a beat down when they went on the road to Detroit or the Sky who beat the Sun 78-75 at home only to lose by 25+ on the road in Conn. In much the same way, the Silver Stars have gotten off to a slow start this year as they are 1-3, but they are 1-0 at home as the three losses come on the highway. San Antonio needs to win this game as a morale booster and a bounce-back as they come off ugly losses to Conn and NY. Although Phoenix comes off a home loss to Seattle, this is a team that can be faded on the road but last year and this year at the right times. They lost by nearly 20 to the Monarchs on the road and typically struggle against defensive minded teams which is why they nearly lost to the Monarchs again in a home and home as they ended up winning in OT. I look for the Silver Stars to bounce-back and do well at home today to pick up their second win on the season while Phoenix likely is not up to par on the road. Phoenix is 1-4 ATS on the road.

4 Unit Play. Take Over 155.5 between the NY Liberty @ Minnesota Lynx (Tuesday @ 8pm est). You have to feel a bit for the Lynx. This team was rolling compared to last year and now have list Simone Augustus for the year. This is part of the reason why they got spanked on their recent road trip as bad as they did both in Seattle and Phoenix. But, they are home. They have come back to the friendly confines of Minny and I expect them to be more fluid on offense today while other players step up. Do they win this game? Likely not without Simone and NY is playing much better right now having won their last two games including a road win at Atlanta and easily defeating San Antonio. But, rather than go against a Lynx team off a couple bad losses as they return home, let's take the Over as I expect this to be a tight contest. Remember, Minnesota is an up and down team that loves to shoot at home and they come off a 28 point loss in Seattle where they did not shoot all that well. This is a team that averages over 83 points a game and to take a loss like that, undoubtedly gives them an urge to come back strong offensively. Tack on that with the fact that NY just put up 93 points against an Atlanta team that also likes to run and this is likely to be a high scoring contest today. The Over is 3-0 for the Lynx followin a 3 day rest and the Over is 22-7 for the Lynx following an ATS loss.

Hondo

June 23, 2009

The Cubs, who left 12 on base, also left Hondo in a lurch last night when they went south in Atlanta, causing wad-reduction to 330 jenkinses.

Tonight, he'll stick with 'em -- 10 units on the Small Bears in the big game in Detroit.
