Scott Delaney Thursday ... 30 DIME ORLANDO MAGIC - Honestly, this has nothing to do with the playoff performances by the Magic ... at least not at the forefront of my decision.
Here's what I am thinking: forget for a moment this is the playoffs and you're supposed to throw out all references to the regular season because "this is where the teams really come to play," let's take in consideration the regular season.
The Cavaliers were the No. 1 seed in the entire NBA, yet one team that seemed to have their number and remain competitive was the Orlando Magic. Taking two of three on the hardwood during the regular campaign, the Magic covered all three. In fact, the Magic are on a 14-1 ATS tear in this rivalry, including seven straight covers in Cleveland. This season alone - both the regular and post seasons - Orlando is 5-2 straight-up and 7-0 ATS against the Cavaliers.
That's just amazing to me, and though you'd think if there were one game the Cavs would sore the blowout, this would be it, I'm thinking if there were one game the Magic would like to win, it'd be here so they can rest for the NBA Finals.
Do I think the Magic will win tonight ... it's a real longshot; but the underdog is 11-4 ATS the last 15 times these two have met. It certainly makes sense to me that Orlando will be playing for the series win tonight and will give us 48 full minutes.
Hey, I've been telling anyone who would listen that Cleveland's first two series wins in the playoffs were superficial and when it met real competition there could be trouble ... meet the Magic folks, the first real competition for the Cavaliers.
Take the points tonight, as the Magic are looking to get to the NBA Finals for just the second time in franchise history.
