Boston Red Sox vs Toronto Blue Jays
Total 9½ un-120 at spbook15* Boston/Toronto UNDER 9.5

The Red Sox offense is only putting up 3 runs per game over their last seven and then there is Toronto only scoring 3.4 over their last seven. Neither offense is clicking and there should be some decent pitching today. Ricky Romero has a 1.38 ERA at home this year while Jon Lester has struggled this season, but he just pitched a gem against the Blue Jays a little over a week ago when he gave up just a single run in 6.3 innings. I think runs will probably be hard to come by today. MLB | May 31 '09 (4:05p)
St. Louis Cardinals vs San Francisco Giants

San Francisco Giants +140 at sia15* San Francisco Giants +140

I'll take the Giants here this afternoon over the Cardinals. San Fran has scored 4.6 runs per game over their last seven while hitting .271. Compare that to the Cardinals who have scored just 3.6 runs per game on .230 hitting. St. Louis has struggled all year against left-handed pitching, scoring just 3.7 runs per game on .234 hitting. The Giants have won four in a row and will be sending Jonathan Sanchez to the hill, a guy who has a 2.42 ERA in four home starts. Sure Adam Wainwright is throwing well right now, but the edge here goes to the home underdog. MLB | May 31 '09 (8:05p)
Los Angeles Dodgers vs Chicago Cubs

Los Angeles Dodgers +131 at jamaica15* LA Dodgers +131

The Dodgers are the best team in baseball right now, so catching them at an underdog price here tonight seems like a great value to me. This team is 11-4, scoring 6.3 runs per game and hitting .302 this year against left-handed starters and they are hitting .310 while scoring 6.6 runs per game over their last seven. The Cubs on the other hand have put up just 3.6 runs per game over their last seven and are hitting .238 against lefties. Neither Eric Milton nor Sean Marshall are lights out pitchers, so you might as well take the hotter hitting team in what should be a wash with the arms.

PICK: Philadelphia Phillies
Your pick will be graded at: -131 5Dimes
EXPERT: Stephen Nover
REASON FOR PICK: Unless in rare spots, the Nationals are a fade at a reasonable. This isn't one of those spots and the price is reasonable to back the favorite.

The Nationals are very bad, especially on the road where they are 6-19. All but three of those losses have come by more than one run. They are 0-5 on this road swing having been outscored by an average of three runs. Overall, the Nationals have dropped 17 of their last 20 games.

So this price doesn't seem so high to back old man Jamie Moyer. The Phillies really want to get Moyer his 250th career win in his sixth try at the milestone. Moyer has been solid in his last two starts, going six innings against the Reds and Marlins.

Moyer has a strong history against the Nationals going 6-0 with a 2.27 ERA since they moved to the nation's capital.

Nationals starter John Lannan is 0-4 with a 5.97 ERA career-wise against Philadelphia. The Nationals bullpen, one of the weakest in baseball, is facing serious fatigue issues. Lannan averages just five innings per start.

This is a one-unit play for me.

1-for-3 on Saturday, with a winner on William Thomas ($3.70). Get My Fix was scratched.

Hollywood - Race 4

#5 Necessary Evil (7/2 ml)

2yo firster for O'Neill outworked last week's 5-length winner Lover's House from the gate a few weeks ago, and has continued to train well since. O'Neill has been great with 2yo firsters at the meet, and this one definitely looks live.
