If you can’t beat ’em … Always Dreaming left 19 also-rans in his muddy wake and this appears to be a simpler task. Triple Crown? See you in three weeks.
From Maryland, my Maryland, to the Keystone state, where the Phillies and Pirates renew their intrastate rivalry. Rough starts for both have left them near the bottom of their respective divisions. The Bucs brought out the bats and took a pair from the Nats this week. Hot/cold Ivan Nova is on the hill. 20 units on Pittsburgh.

‘Of course everybody loves Always Dreaming and to be honest what's not to like? He crushed the field in the Derby and according to trainer Todd Pletcher the horse is doing great. But, this is a race with a two week turnaround from the Derby, a different track, and he has not really trained only galloped. Also the horse will be doing something he hasn't done, which is run on two weeks rest. Plus as the heavy favorite of at least 4/5, I’m looking elsewhere. My pick is the 2 year old champ, Classic Empire.
He looked as if he came out of a prize fight in the Derby. He was bumped hard at the start almost losing his rider Julien Leparoux, he sustained cuts on his legs, and his eye was closed shut from whatever kicked into it. And he still finished a respectable fourth. I feel with a fast track, a cleaner and closer trip, he will go by Always Dreaming in the stretch. Lets see how the Derby winner responds with a little adversity, or, maybe pressure on the front end from Conquest Mo Money. So far he has had everything his own way.

Sure it's a monster plus if Kawhi Leonard plays today. Not only is he the best two-way player in basketball, but the mental lift he would provide would be enormous.
I think Leonard will test his injured ankle and give it a try. The teams last played on Tuesday. So he's had three full days of recovery. Doctors found no structural damage to his ankle. If he plays, this spread is well worth getting involved.
However, I'm not counting on Leonard playing. Yet I still believe the Spurs are worth backing in a home underdog role down 0-2 in this Western Conference Finals and in must-win mode. The Spurs can't help but be super fired up especially after taking a verbal beating from their Hall of Fame coach, Gregg Popovich, after being embarrassed 136-100 in Game 2.
The Spurs are a prideful, veteran crew that showed it could win without Leonard when they buried the Rockets by 30 points on the road to close out their semifinal series.
Golden State has lost a staggering 25 of 27 times at AT&T Center. This includes a 2-3 mark under Steve Kerr. So the Spurs' home-court advantage can not be underestimated.
The Warriors also could be minus Andre Iguodala and starting center Zaza Pachulia. Their potential absence is being overlooked in all the hoopla surrounding Leonard's status. That would really hurt the Warriors' defense and leave their bench thin. Both are questionable due to injuries. Iguoda¯la had the best plus-minust average in the league of all reserves who played in at least 50 games.
