Northwestern has had a week off to rest and prepare for this matchup with rival Michigan St. Last year Northwestern won at Michigan St. in a 48-41 shootout. Wildcat running back Tyrell Sutton missed that game with an injury, but quarterback C.J. Bacher improvised by throwing for a school record 520 yards with 5 passing touchdowns. Northwestern ranks 13th nationally in scoring defense while Michigan St. ranks 22nd.
