BELMONT PARK Race #3 at 2:05 PM Eastern

Top pick: #1a (GRAPPLE) - Expensive yearling ($200,000) by "Forest Wildcat" ran his best race to date missing by a nose May 25 at this distance racing for $35,000. He's had almost a month to recover and his barn (Bruce Levine) drops him down to $25,000 this afternoon. The horse to beat.

2nd pick: #5 (Winloc's Big D) - Tried rating tactics last out and he rallied late for the place at this level and distance. Winner of that contest came back to take another last Sunday. Obvious threat and exotic's player.

3rd pick: #3 (He Struck It Rich) - He'd finished second seven times in 13 turf starts with the majority of them coming in sprints. Drops after finishin second and third in his last pair running for $35,000. Contender.

4th pick: #2 (Sir Hughes) - Lightly-raced son of "Proud Citizen" just missed at Gulfstream April 10 going a mile and finished fourth on this surface May 22 at this level after a very wide trip. Tries a sprint for the first time in his career.

A WUNDERDOG MLB PLAY

Game: Milwaukee at Detroit (4:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: Detroit -105 (moneyline)

The Tigers’ offense has been heating up, and last night scored 10 in a rain-shortened game in their win over the Brewers. They will give the ball to rookie pitcher Alfredo Figaro. Figaro earned the start with his 12-2 showing in A ball a year ago, as well as a 1.05 WHIP at AA Erie this season. The Tigers are taking no prisoners in interleague play as they stand at 48-21 in their last 69 and an even better 39-13 at home. Overall they have now taken six straight at home against teams with winning records. Dave Bush has pitched poorly all season and on the road he has led the Brew Crew to a miserable 17-35 mark in his last 52 starts on the road. The Brewers have also been disappointing in interleague road games against right-hand starters, at just 2-10 in their last 12. The Tigers’ bats are roaring and chopping down everyone at home, they get the call here

Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Mets:

New York Mets -119

4* Major MLB Afternoon Delight of the Week on Mets -119

I'll back the Mets at home in this bounce back spot for Santana. After getting shelled by the Yanks last time out, expect the lefty to be more focused and hungry to get back in the win column. Santana is 5-1 with a 2.14 ERA at home this season. Meanwhile, the road has not treated his counterpart James Shields well as the Rays are 1-5 in his road starts this season. The Rays are 54-144 in their last 198 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, 2-10 in their last 12 road games, 6-21 in Shields' last 27 starts as a road underdog, and 0-4 in his last 4 road starts. The Mets are 11-3 in Santana's last 14 home starts and 7-1 in his last 8 home starts vs. a team with a winning record. Back Santana and the Mets.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Washington Nationals:

Toronto Blue Jays -113

5* Saturday Night MLB REVENGER on Blue Jays -113
Off 3 straight wins, the Nats will endure a big time letdown tonight. Toronto had its letdown last night after sweeping the World Series champion Phillies and now it will be ready to bounce back strong. The key for the Jays is sending a lefty to the hill (Cecil) as the Nats are only 4-13 against southpaw starters this season. In fact, the Nationals are 6-20 in their last 26 home games vs. a left-handed starter. The Jays should have the advantage at the plate also as the Nationals are 0-6 in Detwiler's last 6 starts. Bet the Blue Jays!

Houston Astros vs Minnesota Twins:

Minnesota Twins -1½+111

3* SMASH on Twins -1.5 +111

Minnesota lives for interleague play as it is 8-2 this season against the NL and 21-6 over the last 2 seasons, winning by an average score of 5.4 to 2.9. I'll take the Twins on the run line here with the better starter on the hill and also with the better lineup. Compare Moehler and Baker over their last 3 starts. Moehler is 1-1 with an ERA of 7.20 and Bakers is 2-0 with an ERA of 2.86. The Astros are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in this matchup and their bats have been weak on the road. I'll back the Twins on the run line here to gain underdog value.
