Buy 1.5 points and grab Houston +7. I don't see a Portland blowout in the playoffs v a strong squad like the Rockets. But maybe?

Buying points in the NBA is not worth it. I used to buy points all the time, and in the last 5 years, I have never had a game decided by that stupid hook I bought. Each half a point costs you an extra $.10 meaning for every game you lose after buying the hook, you are pissing away your bankroll. Just not worth it when you do the math. The chances of that point coming into play is much smaller than the extra 10% you are risking. Just my opinion, but in the long run, you will lose with hooks. It took me several years to realize that.

Houston +135 for the series before the game was a great bet as well

Normally, I don't Birds, but it seems like this game should go down to the wire. So instead of -110 I got -130. Teams usually are up by 10 if there in command, then win by 8-14 depending on free throws, etc. I think Hou makes it a close game or wins, but I'm up today with my Dallas Moneyline win so whatever.

Good luck to you, but I honestly don't think you will need that extra point and a half. I am betting it is either a 1-3 point game either way or a complete blowout by Portland.

Thanks Birds. My friend down here buys points and puts them on huge 5-8 team teasers. It usually doen't work. Thanks for the advice. I've only been Sports gambling for 17 months. I see what you're saying about the .10c risk. v. 10%, etc...
Looks like Rockets are out to a got start. Their frontcourt should dominate.

The only time it is worth buying half a point is in NFL when the line is 3.5 but even then you are paying way too much that in the long run it will hurt you. Most books will charge $.20-.25 to go down from 3.5 to 3 or from 3 to 2.5 or from 2.5 to 3. If you are paying an extra 20 cents per dollar, that means one of every 5 games needs to be decided by that half a point to be worth it. Meaning the half a point needs to save you from a loss. In the long run, it will never save you 1 for every 4-5 games. Maybe one out of every 8 games at best. That means you are paying the book extra money that should be in your pocket. I used to do it all the time in college basketball, nba, nfl and college football and it never paid off. I honestly cannot remember a single game in any sport over last few years where I was saved by that hook, but I can recall plenty of games where not only did I lose the wager, but I also lost the extra juice. And that juice adds up very quickly and in many cases can be the difference between having a positive week and a losing week.

I think that hedging our rocket bets with the Blazers -7 2nd half is a great call thats a 15.5 point buffer zone if u got rockets -4.5
