IC 13-10 since June 12th but only 6-7 the last two weeks ..... and stay away from WNBA, 5-15

Handicapper: IndianCowboy

Sport: MLB Baseball

Game: Baltimore Orioles @ Seattle Mariners - Monday July 6, 2009 10:10 pm

Pick: 4 unit(s) MONEYLINE: Seattle Mariners -120 (Play of the Day)

4 Unit Play. Take the Seattle Mariners -120 over the Baltimore Orioles (Saturday @ 10:10pm est). We are taking the Mariners as a home favorite today as we back one of my favorite bounce-back pitchers. For starters, I have taken Washburn on the bounce-back at least several times this year (x4 times I believe) and we have had sound success with it (3-1). Here are his earned runs over his last 10 starts dating from May 18th: 4, 2, 2, 4, 1, 1, 0, 6. Notice after his start where he gave up 6 runs to the Angels at home, he came back to give up no earned runs to Oakland on the road. The same can be said forw hen he gave up 4 earned runs to the Rockies on the road only to come back home and give up 2 earned runs to the Diamondbacks at home helping his team win 4-3 going 7 strong innings. Such is the case today where he comes off a 4 earned run performance in New York where the M's lost 2-4 to the Yanks as he gave up 4 runs in 7 innings and picked up the loss. I look for Wash to have a solid effort as he returns home today as Bergessen comes off several solid starts of his own. The only thing is that he has faced the Mariners twice before and has given up just 2 runs in 15 innings as he got the best of them in his last start winning 3-1 at home. I look for the Seattle bats to get the better of him today in a bit of a revenge. This should be a tight game, but I look for the M's to squeak it out here. The O's are 1-5 when Bergessen starts as an Underdog and the Mariners are 7-1 when they are home favorites - they are also 13-3 in their last 16 as favorites as well.

Good luck

Monday's Play...

30 Dime –

ASTROS (With Hampton) -1 ½ RUN LINE over PIRATES (With Vasquez)

Take the Astros on the run line over the Pirates tonight.

Mike Hampton gets the start tonight and he has absolutely dominated the Pirates in his career. The left-hander owns a 13-3 lifetime mark against the Bucs, has won nine straight over them while posting a 1.34 ERA and is 3-0 against them this season with a 0.90 ERA in three starts.

The Astros are 6-3 against the Bucs this year and are starting a seven-game homestand tonight, so if they are going to make a move in the division it is absolutely imperative they take care of business here.

It’s not just Hampton who has dominated the Pirates this year either. Shortstop Miguel Tejada is hitting .485 (16-for-33) in the nine games against the Bucs this year.

The Pirates have lost six of seven on the road and are just 11-23 within the division this year.

Virgil Vasquez will make his third start of the season for Pittsburgh. The right-hander had not pitched in the majors since 2007 for Detroit, so it’s not like he’s going to come in here and dominate tonight.

Take the Astros on the run line as they win comfortably.

25 Dime N.L. Run-Line Lock of the Month winner ... 25 DIME -- ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS on the run-line (-1 1/2 runs) over San Diego Padres, with Garland over Silva as the starting pitchers ... Both Garland(Arizona) and Silva (San Diego) must start this contest or there is no action.

NOTE: As always, be sure to shop around and get the best of the number! Never lay more on a favorite than you have to or take back less than you can on an underdog!

Cincinnati Reds at Philadelphia Phillies

Selection: 2* Reds/Phillies Under 9

The Reds and Phillies open up a 4 game set tonight at Citizen's Bank Park in Philadelphia and Game 1 should be a beauty. The Phillies send their Ace to the mound in Cole Hamels, who of late hasn't looked like the World Series MVP that he was. Cole has struggled in his last two outings going less than 5 innings each start allowing 7 Earned Runs in his last start and 4 Earned Runs the start before that. However, Cole has had a lot of success against the Reds and this should be a good spot for him to bounce back. Hamels is 4-0 against the Reds in his career with a 1.25 ERA and a 0.944 WHIP. The Under is 4-0 in Hamels last 4 starts against the Reds. Hamels should put together a strong performance tonight and then leave up to his bullpen who for the most part looks like they pulled things back together. Chan Ho Park has been outstanding out of the pen, and Brad Lidge looks like his old self in his last couple of saves.

The Reds counter with Johnny Cueto who has had a very good year so far. Cueto is 8-4 with a 2.69 ERA on the year. In his last 10 starts, Cueto has allowed 3 Earned Runs or less in 7 of those starts. In his most recent start, he went 6 innings allowing only 1 hit. Cueto has only had one career start against the Phillies in which he went 7 innings and allowed 4 Earned Runs. I expect Cueto to keep a still struggling Phillies line-up in check.

Jimmy Rollins looks to have gotten his swing back after being benched but that still hasn't turned into a huge amount of runs for the team. In their 2-0 win yesterday, they only had 3 hits but thankfully for them two of them were home runs. They won another low scoring affair Saturday against the Mets and I expect a similar result today. And if history repeats itself we will cash an easy winner. The Under is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams, and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Philadelphia. Play the Reds/Phillies to finish UNDER the posted total!

Good Luck,
Chris James

*200 Houston Astros -156

The Astros look to add to their win after yesterdays win vs the Giants. I have the trends that say they will. First, we find that the Pirates are 9-28 since 2004 season as a dog after a 5+ run loss and it is the first series of a game. Next, I have the Pirates as 3-16 SU since 2007 season as a road dog of 140+ after being shutout and it is the first game of a series . And finally, we have the Astros as 18-3 SU since 2004 season as a Home favorite after a win in which they allowed 6 or fewer hits and it is the first game in a series. Take the Home team for a win tonight.
