Tom Stryker's MLB Mismatch of the Month - 49-26 MLB Run!
#973 MINNESOTA with Slowey (-129) over Kansas City at 8:10 PM EST
In order to stay competitive in the AL Central standings, Minnesota knows it must take care of business against this pesky Kansas City bunch. The Twins have played well against the Royals this season cashing seven of nine and, off a day of rest, Minny will check into Royals Country focused on the task at hand.
On the mound for the Twinkies will be Winthrop graduate Kevin Slowey. With Slowey on the hill, Minnesota has cruised to wins in seven of his last nine starts. Kevin's overall numbers this year are good. With 102.2 innings in the bank, No. 59 has been touched for only 48 earned runs and 97 hits. That adds up to a respectable 4.21 ERA.
Kansas City goes for the upset with Kyle Davies on the mound. Even though Davies has pitched well in this last three starts, the Royals aren't getting too many innings out of him. At home against the White Sox, Devil Rays and Tigers, Kyle was good for only 14.1 innings of work. To make matters worse, Kyle picked up wins against Chicago and Tampa Bay in his last two trips to the hill. That spells trouble for No. 28 considering he has NEVER won three consecutive starts in a row in his five-year career!
There are angles all over the Twins in this contest that demand our attention too. The Twinkies have nailed 15 of their last 19 against division foes and 24 of their last 33 priced as a favorite. On the homefront, the Royals have dropped 16 of their last 23 against right-handed arms. Take Minnesota with listed pitcher Slowey. Thank you and best of luck, Tom Stryker.
