We think this looks like a really good spot to back the road favorite. We have Dartmouth, which had lost five straight games before taking their last two over Princeton and Penn, and a Yale team that has won four of their last five. If you look at this game strictly on paper, we think that most people would side with the very short priced home dog, and we really think that's what the linesmakers are trying to get in this spot. Currently, the public is pretty split on the side, yet the line is inching up towards Yale, which is a curious move. The power ratings we have show a fairly large discrepancy between these two teams and actually give us Dartmouth winning the game by 7 points. Whenever we have a situation where our PR is way off from the line and we have a 2 points or less dog at home, we tend to look the other way, which is what we are doing here. We also like the fact that Yale was very flat last week as a 17-point favorite vs. Cornell and just squeaked out a 4-point win. The Wizards have taken the Spurs to OT and beaten the Blazers and Thunder in their past 3 games. They have also taken out some tough teams in Golden State and Phoenix. The Cavaliers have dropped 6 straight and 8 of 9 including an 11 point loss to a Lakers team that had for part of the game just 5 players.
The Magic are magically bad - well not magically, this is nothing new for them. OKC have reeled off 9 of 10 SU with their only loss coming to the Wizards as mentioned. Meanwhile the Magic have dropped 7 of 10 with their 3 wins coming to down and out teams in the Pistons, Bucks and Lakers.
The Mavericks have won 6 of 8 at home and are 17-8 at home on the season, while the Jazz are just 6-18 on the road and have just 1 road win since December 23rd.
