Boise State Broncos at San Jose Spartans

Last week the Broncos beat Hawaii 27-17 while the Spartans beat New Mexico State 31-14. Even though the Spartans are unranked and have a couple of losses, first place in the WAC is up for grabs in this game as both teams are undefeated in the conference. The Broncos are led by QB Kellen Moore (1591 yds 13 TD 3 INT) and his main targets are WR’s Jeremy Childs (29 rec 342 yds 1 TD) and Vinny Perretta (17 rec 230 yds 1 TD). The Broncos rushing attack is led by Ian Johnson (363 yds 4 TD). The Spartans are led by QB Kyle Reed (1164 yds 7 TD 6 INT) and his main targets are WR’s David Richmond (39 rec 419 yds 2 TD) and Kevin Jurovich (15 rec 183 yds 1 TD). The Spartans rushing attack is led by Yonus Davis (457 yds 2 TD).

Staff Pick:While the Broncos rank higher than the Spartans in per game averages of total yards, passing yards, rushing yards, and points scored but the Spartans have the better D. On defense the Spartans rank 13th and the Broncos rank 32nd. However, the Broncos D is legit, as they rank 2nd in the FBS in scoring defense and they have given up more than a TD in only 1 game. The Spartans are 0-8 in this series and are 0-9 in their last 9 games against ranked teams. This is the last test for the Broncos, as their next few opponents will not be seen in any Bowl games this season. For the Spartans to have any chance in this game they have to stop Moore and the Spartans 15th ranked passing offense. While the Spartans are 5-2 they have not beat one team that has a winning record. Besides their D the Spartans are playing on Friday night, as games that have not been on Saturday have seen many unranked teams take down ranked teams. For the Broncos to have any chance at a BCS game they have to win this game and may have to win convincingly. Look for the Broncos to beat the Spartans handily and keep their perfect record in tact.

Boise State -7 over San Jose State
Both teams are playing great defense, but the Boise defense is awesome. This team is having a down year on offense and still is putting up over 30+ points a game. Boise needs to win for a mid major program to play in a BCS Game. The nation loves Cinderella stories. Look for San Jose State's nerves to get the better of them in such a big game for them. Boise has won 98% of their last 50 conference games. How can you go against that stat. Take the Broncos.

VEGAS EXPERTS

Boise State at San Jose State
Friday, October 24th, 9:00 ET

Considering that the Boise State offense averages 32.5 PPG, this number looks more than manageable in looking to play the Over. Going back to 2001, the Broncos have scored 42 points or more six times against SJSU. Defensive numbers are skewed for both sides due to playing inferior competition. The streak of Unders both teams are on has caused the oddsmakers to overadjust and we'll be there to take advantage of their mistake!

Boise State vs. San Jose State
Play: San Jose State

An undercurrent of talk is developing about Boise State making a return to the BCS rotation if they stay unbeaten and the other non-BCS teams continue to falter. This is a different Broncos team, not fully immersed in just scoring points. Boise State is still scoring enough to average 32.5 points a game, just not the more than 40 points an outing we are accustomed to seeing. The real strength of the 2008 version of the Broncos is a defense that keeps the opposition from scoring points. They are second in the country only to USC in points allowed at 10.5 per game. This is third straight season Boise State is in the Top 25 and unbeaten headed to San Jose. In 2004, the Broncos blocked a field goal at the end of regulation and went on to defeat the Spartans 56-49 in overtime as 32.5-point favorites. Two seasons ago they erased an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter with a touchdown and two-point conversion and kicked a game-winning field goal in the closing seconds to escape 23-20. Both years the Broncos finished undefeated. San Jose State is 5-2 and 5-1 against the spread this season, again playing with the toughness veteran coach Dick Tomey demands. The Spartans have been in every game except Nebraska and even then they out-gained the Huskers by 38 yards. Boise State allows fewer points than San Jose State, but the Spartans are number one in total defense in the WAC and are ranked 13th nationally at 272.6 yards per game allowed. San Jose State can match many of the things Boise State does well, like forcing 20 turnovers and sacking the quarterback 25 times. They are 5-0 ATS as home underdogs the last two years. The Spartans are 13-2 ATS after playing their last game on the road. Boise State wins, by only 3 or 4 points.

Los Angeles Kings @ St. Louis Blues
Pick: 2 units Los Angeles Kings +143

Ai Simulator 3* graded play on Los Angeles Kings – Supporting this graded play is a system that has gone 36-23 making 27.4 units over the past 5 seasons. Play against home favorites of -200 or less against the money line that is a good team outscoring their opponents by 0.3+ goals/game and after 2 straight games where both teams scored 3 goals or more. Here is a second dog playing system that has gone 237-241 and has made 68.1 units with the average play being a +130.1 dog. Play against home Favorites of -200 or less against the money line that are explosive offensive teams scoring 3+ goals/game on the season and after playing a game where 7 or more total goals were scored. These are fantastic systems to follow on your own as they consistently exploit false favorites. These plays are analogous to playing Black Jack for 478 hands and being paid +130 for every victorious 1.00 wagered. I think you would agree that we would play a hundred times that many hands if that was the case in reality. Yet, this systems is reality being that it has stood the test of time and now you can use it too. St. Louis is just 4-17 against the money line (-15.3 Units) after a home game where both teams score 3 or more goals over the last 3 seasons; 3-13 against the money line (-11.6 Units) after playing 2 straight games where 7 or more total goals were scored over the last 2 seasons. Take Los Angeles for 3* amount.

Picken’s Pick NCAA Friday Night WAC Bookie Basher

Folks yesterday was our first losing day in over a week, as we dropped 10 units, but we are still plus +210 units for the week. Tonight we bounce back and take the easy cash.

15 unit- At 9:00pm our selection is on San Jose State over Boise State . Boise State is in a very tough spot tonight on the road. San Jose on national TV with the WAC on the line…needless to say they will be pumped up. I like the Spartans defense to slow up the Boise passing game and keep this game tight until the final tick.

Play on San Jose State +7 1/2
