Friday NBA Opinion
DENVER (-4) over Detroit
Denver will be without the overrated Carmelo Anthony (great offense, but bad defense) for awhile but the Nuggets are still 117-63-1 ATS when rested, not laying more than 12 points and facing a team with a win percentage of less than .625. In other words, Denver tends to play their best with rest against mediocre and bad teams. The record of that trend without Anthony is now 12-3 ATS after Wednesday’s spread win, as the oddsmakers tend to over-adjust the line for his absence. Denver also applies to a 64-21 ATS home favorite momentum situation while Detroit applies to a very negative 8-50-1 ATS situation. My issue with this game is the line, which is a bit too high given that Detroit is considerably better without Richard Hamilton. Detroit is 5-1 straight up without Hamilton and their only straight up loss was a spread win. My ratings favor Denver by only 3 points and I’m not going to give up the line value to make the Nuggets a Best Bet, even in a good situation. I’ll lean with Denver at -4 or less and I’d take Denver in a 2-Star Best Bet at -3 points or less.

Also has a college 3 star and NBA 2 star

Atlanta Hawks vs. Orlando Magic (NBA) - 7:05 PM EST Premium Play
Pick: Point Spread: 5/-103 Atlanta Hawks Play Title: Cajun Sports NBA "Reverse" Winner 45-18 ATS!!
Click Here to View Pick Analysis
The Atlanta Hawks head south to the Magic Kingdom and Amway Arena to face the host Orlando Magic in the backend of a home-and-home. In the first game of this mini-series the Hawks lost for just the third time at home in 18 games this season falling 106 to 102 as a two-point home favorite.
Atlanta’s ATS loss on Wednesday night to the Magic was their third in a row after going a money-making 13-4 against the spread prior to that loss. The Hawks have been playing well winning ten of their last 13 games overall and scoring at least 102 points in five of their last six times to post.

The Magic have won ten straight at home since losing to Houston back in November 100 to 95. If Orlando hopes to continue that streak they will have to play much better down the stretch tonight against the Hawks. In Wednesday’s matchup the Magic led by as many as 21 points but were outscored 32 to 20 in the fourth quarter, going 5-for-16 from the field with four turnovers and hanging on for the eventual win.

These two teams will be meeting for the third time this season as Atlanta won the first game in Orlando, 99 to 85 which was the season opener for both teams. They hope to have a repeat performance tonight as they trail Orlando in the division by five games.

This series has been dominated by the visitor of late going 3-0 both SU and ATS the last three meetings. They have actually alternated SU and ATS wins and losses the last six in the series overall. The underdog in this series is 6-2 ATS and the Hawks are 8-3 ATS their last eleven trips to the Magic Kingdom (Amway Arena).

Atlanta has been money on the road their last eight times to post going 6-2 against the number. If they are playing with one days rest they are 4-1 ATS their last five in that situation. Atlanta installed as an underdog has also cashed the winning ticket as they have gone a perfect 5-0 ATS their last five in that role. The Hawks are 11-1 ATS when installed as an underdog of 5 to 10.5 points their last twelve. Atlanta is 12-3 ATS when installed as an underdog this season.

Data base research has uncovered an NBA System that tells us to Play AGAINST NBA home favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points off an upset win as a road underdog, with a team playing 8 or more games in 14 days, 45-18 ATS the last five seasons.

With significant technical and situational support we will back the road team here as the Hawks avenge Wednesday’s loss to this Magic team.

PROJECTED FINAL SCORE: (3*) Atlanta Hawks 102 Orlando Magic 97

NBA
OKLAHOMA CITY +6.5 vs Houston.............8 EDT
Houston will play their fifth and final game of their Eastern Swing.
They beat Boston in their last game and ...more important to us...they play the Knicks tomorrow @ home with no rest.
Tomorrows game will be their 4th in 5 days...and 14th in 23 days (most involved travel).
Very tough spot spot in the schedule tonight
.
OK CITY has been losing, but covering the spread at a good clip.....8 out of the L-10.
*********************************************************************
PHOENIX -5.5 vs Dallas...............................10 EDT
PHOE was off 3 days prior to their loss to IND on Wednesday.
They will be rested and angry tonight.
Doesn't matter if Shaquille plays or not....still a play.
DALL will play their 3rd in 4....they won a tough game last night after being behind at halftime.....They worked hard and got the win.
We think Dallas takes the gas pipe tonight after yesterdays tough win.
Dirk may be limited with an illness.
DALL lost 5 games in the last 30 days....they lost by ...
20
9
24
10
& 7 points.
So...when they lose, they go all out and don't cover the spread either.

And we think they lose tonight.
.........................................................
We'll be back later tonight with our Saturday NFL selections.

4 Unit Play. #832. Take Loyola Maryland +1 over Fairfield Stags (Friday @ 7pm est).

7-2 this week (+19.2 Units).
11-5 (69%) last 16 NBA PODs. (6-1 of last 7 NBA PODs).
5-2 NBA in January and 5-3 in CBB in January.
3-1 in College Basketball this week.
5* NFL Release this weekend. 28-6 Lifetime on 5*s.
10-2 NFL Run over last month and 4 of 5 Winning Football Weeks.

We are Greyhound fans yet again today. If you remember, we took Loyola Maryland with revenge against one of my favorite teams in Niagara and they held on as they led outright in the first half. So, this Loyola Maryland team went on the road to lead a conference leader outright at the half only to fall apart in the second half as Niagara made a strong push and overcame a first half deficit to hold serve at home. Well, now it's Loyola Maryland's turn. They return home after the loss. They need this game. This is an evening conference game. Loyola is a top 175 team and they have been playing better and they play a Fairfield team that has a tough task against them. Remember, Loyola beat Canisius by 26 points on the road and has played two of the conference leaders early already. They played Niagara twice and they played Siena once. Why is this important? Well, their conference record is not indicative of how good this team will be in the conference. After all, that is like playing UNC twice and Duke once if you are an ACC team and winning your other conference that is not a UNC or a Duke. So, just because you are 1-3 in the conference does not mean you are not a good team. It just means you played the cream of the crop early. Loyola MD is the same team that beat James Madison on the road and they picked up a ton of confidence from the loss to Niagara as they were in that game from start to finish. From leading at the half to only being down 6 points late, this Loyola team was competitive and now this team will really push forward for a big conference win at home. Fairfield barely defeated top 300 Army and Fordham on the road, they will have their hands full with a conference for in Loyola Maryland who is a top 175 team. The Greyhounds are 4-1 ATS overall while the Fairfield Stags are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games.

4 Unit Play. #814. Take Milwaukee Bucks -5 over New Jersey Nets (Friday @ 8:30pm est). The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the best bounce-back teams in the league. What are they bouncing back from today? Well, this team recently lost at home to the Sixers by a score of 105-110 as they were laying -7.5 points. But, this should not be surprising consider the Sixers had revenge and had been playing better ball coming into this game. Don't forget, we have riden the Bucks countless times this year and rightfully so as they are 24-12 ATS this year. That's covering at a solid 66% clip for 2008-2009. This team has covered 7 of their last 10 and I just want to take you back to their last 3 non-ATS covers to show you how they bounce-back. When this team lost to the Pistons at home by 11, they quickly bounce-back and went into San Antonio and won outright by a bucket as 8 point dogs. When this team lost on the road to Charlotte by 10 on a home and home (which happens all the time when one team wins at home only to see the other team bounce-back and cover/win su at their home) they bounced-back and defeated the Raptors while covering the -8.5 chalk at home. Well, much is the same today as this team hosts a Nets team that comes off big wins against Memphis and Sacramento. Harris is listed as questionable for this game and Bogut is listed as doubtful for the Bucks. But, the difference is the fact that the Nets will have to rely on the point guard play of Dooling and Carter on the road as they will be missing a key piece today. I'll take my chances with Richard Jefferson playing his old team today in the Nets, Michael Redd and Charlie V stepping up today. Besides, I like the Bucks bench as they feature Elson, Sessions and Bell as compared to the Nets bench which features Lopez, Najera and Hayes
