Baldwin sounds like a beast.

Yeah Coach, he will be given every opportunity to start.

Matter of fact, I would be surprised if all three JUCOs listed don't start.

Greyshirting

For those of you who aren't familiar, greyshirting is when an incoming freshman delays
enrolling in classes until the second term of his freshman year, which extends his eligibility,
as the NCAA eligibility clock (you have 5 years to play 4 seasons) doesn't begin until
a student is enrolled in classes. There are plenty of recruits who greyshirt, and commit to
a school with the understanding that's exactly what they'll do. Some recruits resist the
effort by a school to greyshirt and go somewhere else given the opportunity to play their
freshman year.

Yes it was mighty convenient for Bama to loose 3 of its lowest rated kids in the last 3 days before signing day. And it sounds like atleast 2 of those kids were asked to take a grayshirt, which in and of itself isnt a big deal excpet both made it sound like this whole grayshirt idea just came about and wasn't something that had been talked about for a while.
I love how Harbaugh was given tons of shit and the story was on ESPN for him not taking a kid that wasn't even one of his recruits 5 weeks before signing day but you have to look hard to find anything about saban doing this to these kids with 3 days or less until signing day.
I could be way off base and maybe saban discussed the grayshirt possibility with these kids months ago but i doubt it.

I think the player grey shirting is allowed to enroll in school, he just can't be a full-time student and has to pay his own way. And he's not allowed to be a part of any football activities (even working out with team, eating, etc).

exactly. youre basically not part of the team. The one kid that decommited from bama said the first time he was asked about grayshirting was 5 days before signing day, which is fucked up. So basically, to me it sounds like a way that Saban can do one of two things, either: 1. the kid wont want to do it and decommit or, 2. he takes the grayshirt and Saban still can sign another higher rated kid and just make sure by the time the grayshirt does join the team that he is under the 85 scholarship rule by someone else transfering or being kicked off ect.

The player mention at Alabama is a good football player. Otherwise, Bama would not have been interested. He's a 6-2, 205 pound linebacker. Now, how many bloody 205 pound linebackers are going to play in the SEC?

Greyshirt was the right move for Bama if the kid wanted to play for the Tide. He didn't and let's see where he turns up.

Good kid...good athlete...sure as hell AIN't ready to join Alabama's No. 1 class.....next year..maybe?

This kid may be a decent player, but he didn't fit at Bama from the get go. Look and see who else he was being recruited by. Not your normal Bama LB

yeah thats not the point. don't offer or take the kids commitment then. Or at the very least be stand up about it and say look, there is a chance we may ask you to take a grayshirt, but thats a convo that should happen at the very latest early january so that way if the kid does't want to go the grayshirt route he can try to find other options. To ask him to grayshirt 5 days before signing day is dicking the kid over cause now he doesn't have many choices for other teams.

This was way worse then what Harbaugh did to that Swenson kid. atleast that 1. wasn't his recruit, it was hokes and 2. it happened in the first week of january so the kid took like 3-4 other visits and landed with oklahoma. Yet the Harbaugh thing was a national story and people have barely heard about saban doing this to 3 kids.

SEC teams signed 109 of ESPN's top 300 (36.3%) and likely will get to 110 with Robertson....

also 39 of Rivals' 100 (i think you all can do this math) and should get to 40/100 with Robertson. Dive deeper and you will find that 17 of Rivals' top 35 (soon to be 18) signed with SEC schools.

Alabama's No. 1 class comes from 11 states and Washington D.C..

California, Texas, Oklahoma, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, Wash D.C.,
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi.

In other words, Alabama and most of the top tier SEC teams recruit the best
players nationally. I get so tired of hearing Alabama should recruit well because
of all the players in the SE Region. Right, not like 100 schools don't recruit in
this part of the country.

The State of Florida is constantly being raided by the recruiters because of the vast amount of H.S. talent available in the state (being the third most populous state in the Nation keeps the talent level high along with good programs). There's a reason the SEC schools recruit well in their "back yard" and it isn't just because of the pretty girls on campus.

You are right on Mack. Every SEC school hits Florida hard along with Miami, Florida State, South Florida, Central Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida International plus Big 10 schools, Big 12 schools, ACC schools, etc....etc.

This kid ended up signing with South Alabama. What a kick in the balls!

Jim McElwain has some serious soul searching to do with his coaching staff. They got their asses kicked on the recruiting trail. He fired the DB coach and made an excellent hire, bringing in Va Tech's long time DB coach.

South Carolina - Defensive Line

There were only 18 teams in the FBS that were worse against the run last year than the Gamecocks. They
allowed more than 5.1 yards per carry and 26 rushing touchdowns. In addition to being ineffective against
the run, South Carolina also finished near the bottom of the league with just 20 sacks. The team finished
last in scoring and total defense, and much of the blame has to lie with the defensive line. Muschamp and
staff recognized the problem and six defensive ends and two defensive tackles were brought in in the re-
cruiting class. Newcomers have a great opportunity to get some playing time this season.

SEC Recruiter of the Year

Scout.com has named its 2016 Southeastern Conference Recruiter of the Year. Alabama defensive line
coach Bo Davis earned the honor. LSU's Bradley Dale-Peveto and Auburn's Rodney Garner where also
given consideration.

*******************************************************************************

Auburn

For a second straight season, Auburn hopes to get an impact player in the form of a graduate transfer
from the Big Ten Conference. Illinois linebacker TJ Neal has announced his decision to graduate and
hopefully transfer to Auburn. Neal, a 6-1, 235 pounder will visit the Tigers on February 15. During the
2015 season, Neal was second on the Illini roster and fifth in the Big Ten with 109 tackles. Neal started
every game for the Illini the past two seasons at middle linebacker and leaves Illinois with 245 career
tackles.

Several SEC Schools Pursing 1AA OL Graduate Transfer:

http://www.foxsports.com/college-fo...st-tyler-catalina-ol-graduate-transfer-020916

The advent of the "graduate transfer" has completely impacted the climate of college football. These "mercenaries" of sorts are plug-and-play athletes -- possessing experience, maturity, and a battle-tested resume.

One of these graduate transfers -- former Rhode Island offensive lineman Tyler Catalina -- is garnering plenty of interest from many programs all across the country.

Although he's technically committed to Iowa State, Catalina hasn't signed any official paperwork. His commitment is non-binding -- which allows him to visit other programs.

As Catalina told The Des Moines Register, "As of right now, I'm just going through the process and exploring all options and just trying to find where the best fit would be for me to play next year."

The 6-foot-6, 298-pound Massachusetts native started 33 games during his career at Rhode Island -- amassing second-team All-Conference honors in 2015. A true left tackle, Catalina has solid athleticism to go along with strong leadership skills.

Catalina has already visited Florida, and will soon take trips to both Auburn and Georgia.

At this point, it's anyone's guess as to where Catalina will eventually end up.

The Razorbacks lost a ton of offense including their three year starting quarterback, running back and tight end...all key contributors during the 2015 season. Still, there are bigger areas of concern going into spring drills and that is the offensive line. In addition to losing All-SEC tight end Hunter Henry, the Razorbacks must replace center Mitch Smothers along with the left side of the line. Another factor is breaking in a new line coach who is replacing well respected Sam Pittman, who took the same position at Georgia. One positive for the OL is the return of senior right tackle Dan Skipper. Skipper is 6-foot-10, 330 pounds and will be expected to be the leader for a very inexperienced group. Others competing for playing time:

Soph RG Frank Ragnow (6-5, 310)
JUCO G Terrance Malone (6-4, 310)
RS FR T Johnny Gibson (6-4, 330)
FR G Josh Allen (6-2,300)
FR C Zark Rogers (6-1,310)
RS FR T Brian Wallace (6-6,320)

It will be interesting to see how new coach Kurt Anderson does with that group and the new signing class.
