INDIANAPOLIS -- The Seattle Seahawks will aim to remain unbeaten in the preseason Friday night, when they battle the winless Indianapolis Colts at the RCA Dome.
The Seahawks opened their preseason slate with a 20-7 defeat of the San Diego Chargers at home. Shaun Alexander and Maurice Morris each rushed for a touchdown in pacing Seattle to the win. Morris ran eight times for 46 yards, while Alexander rushed for 12 yards on four carries in limited action. Alexander led the Seahawks in receiving with two catches for 23 yards. Starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck completed 8-of-11 passes for 75 yards in the win. Josh Brown posted a pair of field goals of 29 and 47 yards in the fourth quarter of the victory. Starting corner Ken Lucas and linebacker Chad Brown missed the preseason opener. Both are practicing again, but it is doubtful that they will play this week.
Indianapolis came up short in its preseason opener against Chicago, falling 20-18 on a Paul Edinger field goal as time expired. In limited action, Peyton Manning was 4-of-7 for 36 yards. Edgerrin James collected 13 yards on four carries. James is one of just two healthy backs remaining on the Indy depth chart, as Dominic Rhodes is nursing knee and shoulder injuries, and James Mungro and Ricky Williams likely will miss at least three weeks with maladies. Along with James, the Colts have second-year veteran Brian Allen available at running back. To fill the void, Indianapolis has re-signed Montrell Lowe, a free-agent rookie from Purdue. All-Pro wideout Marvin Harrison posted one reception for 28 yards for the Colts in the opener. Fellow wideout Brandon Stokely is sidelined with a foot injury.
