Looking to have a big day in the NBA, NCAA Football, and NCAA Basketball today. I have done all the research and not ready to collect!!! I'm looking to go 7-3 or better today, who's with me???
10 Units Wake Forest -15.5 -106
Some people thought Wake Forest (4-0 SU and ATS) may be an ACC sleeper. However, nappy time is probably over for the Deacons after they completely embarrassed Indiana 100-67 SU, the other day on national television. Sophomore Center Eric Williams is starting to shine, averaging 16 points and 6 boards per game. The Demon Deacons now face the Richmond Spiders (4-2 SU, 2-2 ATS) who got by cross-town foe VCU 70-52 the last time out. The Spiders just do not have a big enough web to snare Wake Forest at home. Senior Forward Mike Skrocki leads the Spiders with 16 points a game. However, Richmond just won’t have an answer inside for Mr. Williams. Look for another Wake massacre!!!
10 Units NC Charlotte -4.5 +104
Fourth straight road game for NC Charlotte (3-2). NC Charlotte lost 79-72 at Alabama, but should bounce back here because of a big frontcourt edge led by 6'-8" sophomore Curtis Withers (13 ppf, 9 rpg) and 6'-8", 250-lb Calvin Clemmons. What a tough start to the season for Old Dominion. They've had to play North Carolina, St. Joe's and Virginia Tech (two of those on the road). They are a young team with a decent frontcourt (though little experience) in 6’-9”, 235-lb sophomore Alex Laughton (16 ppg, 9 rpg) and 6’-7” small forward Arnaud Dahi (8 rpg), who is a newcomer. Old Dominion had a 90-64 disaster against North Carolina (as a +18 dog) as UNC shot 62%! They did get the cover against St. Joes, losing 75-72 as a +10 dog, but the visitors have the superior frontcourt here!!!
5 Unit Virginia Tech +11 -102
For Virginia Tech began the season (3-1 SU, 0-2 ATS), there is a returning scoring sensation at small forward in Bryant Matthews (25 ppg) and guard Jamon Gordon (14 ppg), a defensive specialist, for coach Seth Greenberg. They lost to Virginia 80-65 last week. Tech is shooting 42% and allowing 42% while scoring 70 ppg. This is not another cakewalk for Tech. This is the second home game for Ohio State (2-3 SU, 0-5 ATS) who were trounced by a good Georgia Tech 73-53 on Wednesday. The Buckeyes just haven't look good, losing to San Francisco and San Diego State University as well. Those games were a long way from home, of course. Ohio State has a young team led by 6’-9” sophomore Terence Dials, 6’-5” sophomore JJ Sullinger and 6’-1” junior Tony Stockman. The Buckeyes were 11-5 SU, 5-6-2 ATS at home last season, but things have changed. Tough to call, but the Buckeyes are still learning!!!
5 Units Texas Tech -9.5 -105
Texas Tech and its running offense will try and push the tempo up, while New Mexico might want to slow things down. Texas Tech is averaging 72 ppg behind 6'-5" senior G Andre Emmett in coach Bobby Knight's aggressive offense. They've only played one official road game and got shut down in a 62-59 loss at SMU as a 6-point favorite. They also lost 65-54 to Utah and 85-65 to Georgia Tech. This will be the fourth home game for the New Mexico Lobos but they suffered a 77-71 loss in their last home game to Portland as a 9-point favorite. They have height in 6’-9” sophomore David Chiotti and 6’-8” freshman Justin Benson, but they are young and more board bangers than runners. New Mexico was 10-7 SU/5-7 ATS at home last season and when these teams met last year, Texas Tech rolled 98-71 as an 18-point favorite! Either the Lobos slow it down, or the Red Raiders roll again!!!
5 Units Providence -1.5 -116
The Friars (3-0 SU, 1-2 ATS) appear to have plenty of depth and are well-balanced; they have enough shooting presence in the backcourt to make up for cold-shooting by any player. 6’-7” junior Ryan Gomes (18.4 ppg, 9.7 rpg) is a very good post player and the key to the Friar’s success, which, with 5 returning starters should better last years mark. Gomes’ inside presence could open things up for guards Sheiku Kabba (10.0 ppg, 2.4 apg last season), Donnie McGrath (9.1 ppg, 4.3 apg) and Abdul Mills (14.5 ppg in ’01-’02). Rhode Island (R: 4-2 SU, 2-1 ATS) lost to a determined Syracuse 69-65 on Sunday. Rhode Island took a 24-13 with 8:44 left in the first half. But the Orangemen outscored the Rams, 20-10, the rest of the half. Dustin Hellenga scored 16 points and Terrence Mack had 10 and nine rebounds as Rhode Island won the rebounding battle 48-35 and lost the war. R.I won 73-71 last year. A war for bragging rights here. Providence survives!!!

Two young teams meet out West and they're both working in some new players. Cal State Northridge is 0-2 on the road (1-1 ATS) -- they lost 81-70 at Loyola Marymount and 75-69 at USC (as a +15 dog). Veteran 6'-6" junior Ian Boylan (15 ppg) has been joined by 6’-2” Davin White (18 ppg), a newcomer who averaged 28 ppg in junior college last season. He's brought some offensive firepower to the backcourt, while Boyland and 6’-9” junior Chris Davis (18 ppg, 6 rpg) crash the boards. The Matadors were not a bad road team last season (5-11 SU in away games, 9-7 ATS) and look pretty decent this season. The San Jose State Spartans are working in newcomers of their own in 6’-6” junior D.J. Brown with 6-8” senior Eric Walton. But the defense has been poor, giving up 76 and 70 points in losses to Pacific and Cal Poly (though both losses were on the road). San Jose went 5-9 SU & 3-9 ATS at home last season and Northride whipped San Jose 92-67 last year!!!
