not the most awe-inspiring weekend card, but we have the turf festival to look forward to next week. let's try to grind out some profit today.
r1: sunshine allie. truly believe this is the best horse in the race as favorite miss sand bar looks to be going the other way a bit for machowsky. at 5/2 i like her chances from just off the pace.
r3: poweroyal. i was all over this horse in his debut, but he showed speed and just flattened out in the drive. would have preferred him to come back sooner, but i'm taking a shot against huge favorites remo and extreme machine. both those horses have had several starts and while remo goes to the white-hot doug o'neill barn, it means i'm likley to get a jumbo price on this nicely bred son of royal academy.
r5: game day hero. while i'm taking a stand against the heavy o'neill trainee in the first maiden race, i'll back one here against likely odds-on profuse, who ran well, but not incredibly in his debut. he'll be odds on again, and i would normally look to back cigar pal, but that one, with his pedigree, should be routing right now, not sprinting again for the third time. 'hero has trained forwardly and need only break well to contend.
r9: fisherman's friend. like the blinks off maneuver for this horse, who showed enough speed to think that the blinks off will allow him to relax a bit and solis is great with these types.
