quote:
Let's see if I can repeat last season success.

Saturday :

UTA@SAC under 188.0

Utah is 53-18 under the total in last 71 playoff games including 4-0 under last season and 7-1 under in last 8 playoff games vs the Kings. Their last game of the season vs the Kings is pretty much the preview of the first game of this series, which means low scoring, physical battle, especially in the paint.
Kings are not the same team they used to be some 2 or 3 years ago, when they were runing and gunning 48 min per game. They actually play some defense since they aquired doug and keon.

BOS@IND under 179.5

These two teams averaged 178.6 pts in hth meetings this season and with playoff officiating it should not come close to that in the first game of the series, unless there is an OT. Indiana plays some better defense at home since late feb. going 11-3 under the total and allowing less than 87 ppg in those 14 games.

boston has not scored nor allowed more than 99 pts in 8 straight games to end the season. they also scored 71 and 72 pts in their last 2 vs indiana this season, shooting 23% from the 3pt line in those two games.

POR@DAL under 193.0

Season average in hth meetings 186.66 pts.
Not many teams can say that they allowed avg 93 pts to Dallas this season, but Portland can.

They are a veteran team and they know they have to slow the game down in order to beat Dallas.

The question is, can they do that ? I think they can. One of the best in the paint teams vs one of those teams that has no inside game whatsoever.

Two key players on both sides not at 100% (Finley and Pippen), and usually that slows down the offensive flow.

Sunday:

LAL@MIN under 199.5

I have a feeling that the whole world will be on the over in this one. Over prevailed in three out of four hth meetings this season, we have KG, Kobe, Shaq on the floor and thats an easy over, right ? Not. Despite going 3-1 over the total this season, these two teams averaged 200 pts in those 4 games, and thats just about the same # we have in the game #1.
Lakers start playing D in the playoffs and it will be an in the paint game, with slow pace and questionable calls. 199.5 is way too many points here.

Just in case someone hasn't heard

quote:
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Shaquille O'Neal hasn't been speaking with the media lately, but the possibility he will miss a playoff game increased a bit with Friday's news that O'Neal's maternal grandfather died.

The Los Angeles Lakers' star already had everyone wondering what he will do when his wife, Shaunie, gives birth to a son that's expected later this month.

O'Neal's grandfather died Thursday in South Carolina, and the Lakers aren't sure what that will mean as the team prepares for a Sunday playoff opener at Minnesota.

"At this point, it's too early to say,'' Lakers spokesman John Black said Friday. "We expect that the funeral will be Wednesday or Friday.''

If that's the case, Black pointed out, O'Neal would not miss a game.

After the three-time defending champion Lakers' opener Sunday, the second game will be played Tuesday night in Minneapolis. The third game will be Thursday night in Los Angeles.

O'Neal already has said he can't rule out missing a game to witness the birth of his baby.

"When it happens, it happens,'' Black said. "We hope that he won't miss a game.''

The due date is April 27, the same day as Game 4 of the Timberwolves-Lakers' best-of-seven series.

quote:
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Ben Wallace practiced Friday for the first time since injuring his left knee nearly two weeks ago, but does not know whether he will play for Detroit in Game 1 against Orlando on Sunday.

Wallace, the NBA's leading rebounder and second-leading shot blocker, said there is "maybe" a chance he will sit out when the best-of-seven series starts at The Palace.

"I don't know," Wallace said about his playing status. "Right now, I can't really say."

Wallace sprained the medial collateral ligament in his knee April 6, and doctors said he would be out two weeks.

"I can go on the floor," Wallace said. "But I'm not going to go out there if I can't play the way I'm capable of playing, not only to hurt me, but most of all, to hurt this team. I don't want to be out there and have my teammates depending on me if I can't help out.

"If I'm not 100 percent, I think it would be selfish to play because I would be holding somebody else back."

Somewhat like a lot of dogs in bases today but instead will post my NBA play for the day:

Milwaukee +7

This team has a talented line up that will be able to expose the Nets lack of a big man underneath. GP has gotten comfortable running the point now and they have been playing very well of late. Like our chances to win here SU......

Of course I wouldn't be shocked if we lost by 40 either.

Ari +120
Col -140
Cubs -155
Und Stl 9 -115
Und Cubs 8 -125
Und KC 9' -120

raiders : no problem at all.

also playing the bucks.

Milwaukee + 7

The way I see it, Nets are not going far in the playoffs this season. Last year's success had a lot to do with very bad competition in the east. I don't say that east is much better this year, but teams like Orlando, Detroit and Indiana with young and talented rosters are a little bit more experienced than last year. Not to forget the veteran Bucks team and streaky Hornets.

Milwaukee is a very hot team, winning 8 of last 9, when they needed it the most to get into the playoffs. Nets lost 4 of their last 5 when they were trying to win the East.

After winning 7 of previous 8 hth meetings, the home team lost last 2 in this series.

The marquée matchup in this series involves Payton and Kidd. And guess what, Payton's teams beat Kidd's teams in three straight games.

I will take the experience of Payton, Cassel, Kukoc, to have a good game #1 of this series.
The road teams usually try very hard to win this first game.

Good luck.

Sorry just got back. My player turned in a play on the Spurs -9.

Very interesting that the entire site isn't as busy as I thought it would be.

I also see a 5:1 ration for the Over in the Portland game. Even though the line is dropping.

Don't like the linemovement in the Portland game, so tread lightly.
